No kidding.
Happens when you aren't allowed to play and/or develop into what you are capoable of being. Told you so.

QB Justin Fields exploring transfer but could still return to Georgia
By Mark Schlabach
17 December 2018

Georgia freshman quarterback Justin Fields is exploring the possibility of transferring, though he hasn't yet told the Bulldogs' coaching staff that he's leaving, sources told ESPN on Monday.

"[Fields transferring] is a possibility, but we expect him to play in the Sugar Bowl," the source said. "It's not done. He practiced [Monday] and practiced his ass off. He's going to explore what's out there. He might come back."

So, you think we should have just sat Fromm this year just to see what Fields could do? I don't think so. I don't agree with how he was pulled in and out of games like he was, but he is way behind Fromm in knowledge of the offense and reading defenses.

Wrong. You don't get as many reps when the starter is 3rd in the country in passing efficiency.

I agree with Reddawg....Fromm sure is underappreciated around here sometimes. But he sure outplayed Tua head to head. And lest we forget, in his last six games, 14 TDs, and 1 int....ONE! That's better than anybody in the country did. I hope Fields sticks around, but there's a dang good reason that Fromm has held off not one but two 5 star QBs and still is the starter.

Bottom line is this-

Fields committed to UGA fully believing as he should, that he would beat out Fromm. He was given opportunity and couldn't do it. The coaching staff/Kirby did NOT handle the situation properly if you ask me-inserting him only to hand off for the most part, was just wasting his time and also taking snaps away from Fromm that could have meant the difference between us beating Bama and not. If Fields wants to transfer, good luck to him and we will hit the trail for a stud in the 2020 class, and hopefully add at least one of the two QB's we are recruiting for this year. Fromm may or may not be back for his SR year, Fields could battle him next year, get more snaps and be ready to play in 2020, which is when he will be able to play if he transfers. I have heard however, his family is exploring trying to apply for a hardship to allow him to play right away-based on the racial slur at the football game. IF the NCAA allows this, it opens the door for kids to get a hardship for most anything. UGA dealt with the IDIOT baseball player in a timely fashion, to try to use that to me should not hold water but it might.

Fromm played as well as ANY QB in the country after the LSU game, he made all the plays and completed 68% of his passes this season-behind only Tua and Murray. Fields when he played showed great potential but you could clearly see he needs a lot more reps to be ready to play and win.

For some reason the media and some fans have acted as though Fromm was a fill-in player until someone else showed up to play QB. The guy has gotten better and better. There is a very good reason Fromm was playing and Fields was not.

Georgia could've handled Justin Fields better, but 5-star QBs transfer all the time
By Bud Elliot
18 December 2018

Fields will make it 11 of the last 19 five-star QBs to transfer if he ends up leaving Georgia.

Being a five-star QB is not a guarantee of starting at the program you sign with.

But if a program wants to hold on to its five-star signee, it would probably help to let the player throw more than 39 passes in a season in which the team wins often in blowout fashion.

Thing about it is, UGA didn't have as many blowouts as people think just looking at final scores. We struggled a LOT in the first half of games and then came out blowing doors in the second half. Folks just tend to look at the scoreboard and make assumptions.

Should we have played JF more, not sure. Should we have let him run the normal offense more-YES, I do believe so. That being said, Fromm was better and is better RIGHT NOW. Kids nowadays have ZERO patience, especially being rated so highly. Eason left because he got hurt and was never given the chance to come back to claim his job-and how could Kirby be faulted for that considering the run we were on when Eason got hurt. Fromm played decently up to LSU-then SUCKED in that game but was that all on him-I still blame Kirby and the stupid fake FG attempt, as well as abandoning the run way too early. After that game, Fromm played on the same level as Tua, Haskins, and Murray-maybe not the gaudy stats but the results were pretty special. He was 29-35 for 300 yards against Bama, that is saying something.

Fromm completed 25 of 39 passes (64.1%) for 301 yards w/ 3 TDs and rushed 4x for -2 yards (sacked twice) vs. Alabama.

My bad AFD, but I was pretty close!! Fromm played well and I would argue that bringing in Fields to just hand the ball off, could have killed our chance to win that game against Bama. Bringing him in on the punt-the first time we did that all year, was to me an easy tip off something was up there too.

Bottom line, the old saying of if you have two QB's you really don't have one, to me is pretty accurate. I am NOT a fan of the two QB system, this is why other than depth, I am fine if Fields leaves and we bring in at least one QB to back up Fromm. Yes, Fromm could get hurt next year, it happens, but we are run heavy team and with our OL, pass protection is not going to be a huge issue. We need someone capable to come in should we have an injury but other than that, I am fine with Fromm getting all the snaps next year, and hopefully the year after that.

That's what his private quarterback coach prefers:

Someone who is in the know more than I am, how many QB's that were coached by Day or played at the OSU are playing QB in the league right now. Maybe Mr Avery or the Fields entourage might want to look into that. Also, I am bothered by the timing of this move by the Fields camp. I know this isn't a popular view by about half of my DP brethren, but I wish Kirby would sit him down and say stay or go and if it is go then leave now. Kirby shouldn't let him string us along like a high school aged fickle girl.
