Was never a big classic rock fan.

Guess they are wrong that there's 1000 good songs.

There could be at least 2 more led zeppelin songs in there

I'm with Low as the Eagles never did it for me. That would be the weakest song in the top 20 for me.

Not a huge classic rock fan, but like some songs. Surprised by 2 and 3 - never a big fan of Layla.
I think Sweet Home Alabama and Bohemian Rhapsody should be higher...but then again I think BR was one of the most genius songs of all time.

Switch Dream On for Sweet Emotions.

Do Elton John, Billy Joel, and David Bowie not fall under classic rock?

I would think at least one of them would crack the top 20 over U2 and a partial cover by Van Halen.

I think I would much rather have Ten Years Gone on their than Black Dog.

Totally agree with Dream On as a replacement. Love that song.

Van Halen is a bit of an odd choice here. How about replacing that with Cream "Sunshine of Your Love". Love that song and Cream was a kick ass power trio.

AC/DC but no Sabbath? Back in Black over Sandman? Don't think I'd agree there... hell Crazy Train should definitely be ahead of Back in Black

Umm ... where are the Allman Brothers?

Impossible Dean....impossible

Agree with "where are the Allman Brothers" - Best ALBUM ever, beginning to end, is Eat a Peach.

Gotta disagree with my brothers on Dream On over Sweet Emotion, no way!

Here's blasphemy for you.....I was never a Beatles fan. Get it they are royalty when writ large, but dont think anything they did is top 20 - always preferred the Stones and their more delta blues influenced tunes to anything the Beatles did.

Dylan's a folk singer. I'd replace Dylan with Toto's Tow The Line
I'm too ugly or something

Fan of any of their solo careers? Didn't like Wings, but GH was a stud and a Wilbury

Also why not give Dylan credit for All along the watchtower on this list...way better Hendrix songs IMO. I'd have Fire in my top 5. Mitch Mitchell on drums was no joke.

just thinking about it a little you would think freebird would be in there.....its still a rock anthem....

maybe blue sky from the allman brothers.

for just one song born to run from springsteen has to rate.

born to be wild from steppenwolf was my work out song way back.

not really "rock" but i think long and winding road is my favorite beatle song.

fleetwood mac go your own way is a great rock song.

no ccr?///.....maybe have you ever seen the rain...

might even have to slip chuck berry in with johnny b good....

Yes - good question on CCR

All good songs, but I would have added these: Crystal Blue Persuasion by Tommy James (long version), Black Magic Woman by Santana, Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf, Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues, Momma Told Me not to Come by 3 Dog Night.....

Never liked stairway to heaven, and I think where the streets have no name is far and away the best U2

1 Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven

Black Dog is a good song, but to me there would have been others I'd have put as a second Zeppelin song behind Stairway to Heaven. I'm partial to Whole Lotta Love, but I could see Rock 'n Roll or Misty Mountain Hop in that slot as well.

Same for AC/DC- Shook Me All Night Long or Highway to Hell over Back in Black.

As for Beatles... I wouldn't have gone with Day in the Life as their top song. And wouldn't put any of theirs at #2.

If we're talking U2... my fave is One, but for this list I'd go Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Speaking of classic rock, Nirvana came out 30 years ago. How old do you feel now?

Love me some HairNation, Ozzy's Boneyard and Classic Rewind!

Any list is flawed. Heck, there is no bigger VH fan than me so I wouldnt pick a cover song as their best. Even though thats a great one and VH1 revolutionized rock in the late 70's.

My first moment like that came on a business trip to Ireland. I had hired a new rep straight out of UGA and she was sitting in on all the meetings. Guy walks in that was a dead ringer for Radar O'Reilly from MASH. I was debating whether to say anything when someone called him Radar- that was his nickname.

On the flight home I mentioned to her I thought it was funny, and she goes "Hey, I meant to ask you about that... who's Radar?"

I would replace Boston - More than a feeling and Beatles - Here Comes the Sun with Allman Brothers - Statesboro Blues and Elton John - Funeral for a Friend. Also, thinking Pearl Jam and CCR should be on here, or maybe somewhere in 21 - 30.

Good question - I was wondering the same thing. When U2 was dominating the airwaves in the 90s, they were Classic Rock stations, and they were not playing U2.

U2 is one of my favorite bands - Joshua Tree on of my favorite albums - but didn't know they are Classic Rock? Maybe their older stuff is?

The 1st major concert in the Ga Dome was U2 on the Zoo TV tour. I remember getting the only tickets I could afford - nose bleed. I was dating a girl who was doing some modeling, so she had seats at the catwalk. She found me and my friend before it started, and snuck us down to her seats right in front of the stage. No one sat down the entire concert...good memories.

Hard to believe nobody mentioned Kansas for "Dust in the Wind".

I tend not to think of the slower songs as rock for this list, though I know Stairway to Heaven is #1 with some slowness. One of my favorite Led Zep songs in Goin' to California, but seems like it needs more juice to be on a top 500 list... I actually liked Beth from KISS and Poison's Every Rose has its Thorns as well.

Boy and War are my favorite U2 albums and they should never be mentioned in the same music category as Hendrix, The Stones and Zepplin. It's totally diferent rock music. To me U2 is Alternative Rock, not Classic Rock.

Goin to California is probably my favorite Zep song.

I damn near cried when it was the end credits song for the series finale of Entourage

Classic rock is a moving target. Its like a classic sporting event.

SiriusXM has "criteria" for their stations. U2 is on Classic Rewind sometimes because they were a cassette era band. But you find them more on Lithium.
