James Cook...AFD or others, what's the deal with this RB?

To me, when this kid touches the ball, he's lightning in a bottle and got great moves. But since the South Carolina game, according to the stats, he's had a total of 14 carries. He's played in 6 games, so he can't RS. Bringing this kid along is important you'd think, with White still shelved with injuries and the Demery kid decommiting, we need another young stud waiting in the wings. Who knows if Holyfield will stay around or go pro after this year. He's pushing 600 yards now, and with 4 more regular games left, one against UMASS, and then hopefully championship games after that, it's not out of the realm of possibility he could top 1000 and might start sniffing NFL money.
So, anyway....we certainly need some fresh options to fall back on. Why isn't this kid getting more love...and carries?

Darin-

Simply put, Cook is not going to get many carries in close games, he is 4th string right now. Heck, it can be argued that Holyfield and Swift are not getting enough carries. Where I do wish we would see him more is playing the role that Swift did last year, go two backs, Swift/Holyfield and then throw to Cook out of the backfield in space, because with his speed/moves, it is going to be hard for a LB to stay with him. Some plays, you can send both backs out, other plays you keep the bigger backs in to help pick up anyone blitzing.

Cook has played in all 8 games this season and has the third most carries (i.e., 31) on the team. Moreover, he has 6 receptions on the season. Considering that he didn't enroll at UGA until 6 July, he's done well. At 5'11", 190 lbs., he's a bit small (Holyfield/Swift are 215 lbs.; Herrien is 210 lbs.) to be running between the tackles and to block effectively (force = mass x acceleration). I expect with a full year of S&C, nutrition, and more time to process the playbook he'll be a more prominent player next season. Thus no worries here.
