Nick Saban is a Miserable Human Being

Look, Saban is as successful as anyone who has ever coached in the game of College Football. I'm not denying that. The guy can coach. But he has the worst case of little man's disease I have ever seen.

Maria Taylor asked him a completely reasonable question about the Alabama quarterbacks:
"What answers did you have about your quarterbacks after watching both of them play tonight"?
But Saban, after giving a pretty standard but reasonable response, cannot suppress his inner jackass any longer and goes on to say:
"A'ight, so why do you continually try to get me to say something that doesn't respect one of them? I'm not going to, so quit asking!"

There was nothing, and I mean NOTHING in Maria's question that would provoke any type of "disrespect" towards either player. Nicky, why can't you just answer the question and give a few positives about either or both players and be done with it? Why can't you, for once in your miserable life, NOT be a F***ing A$$$$le towards someone asking you a reasonable question?

Seriously, throughout the history of college football, many successful coaches have figured out how to use the media as allies to help promote their program. Saban, as good as he is at coaching, just can't figure that part out. That's why he's so quick to go on the defensive and become such a complete jackass. He's absolutely miserable.

He is a total ass but you can see Kirby like that to some degree with the media and quite honestly, I get why coaches are a little leery of the media. I was in the J-school many years ago and to me media/journalism has changed so much since I was in school in 1991. Back then you could trust media to not print stuff "off the record" and you could actually have them attend practices/scrimmages because they wouldn't report anything but very basic facts. Media today are all looking to break the story or be the one to ask the question-to get so and so to talk or give that answer that people are talking about for days or weeks or even years. The fact is, there are so many more media members now than when I was covering UGA football for the one season I did. You have AJC, Athens Banner (Chip Towers), Red & Black (me and a couple others) and then MAYBE a writer from the opposing team coming over to write a story. Today you have websites, TV, newspaper, etc-just more possible coverage and thus more ways for you to lose control of what you want the public to know. That is why you see teams only allow media coverage for the first 15 minutes of practice or no media coverage at all. You simply don't know who might report what and so to control it completely, you shut it down.

He's a scumbag, pure and simple. My former boss was a big dog back in Tuscaloosa and knew all of the upper crust and rich alums and they'll all tell you the guy is a jerk, but I guess as long as he keeps winning, they're content with having a sarcastic scumwad running your program.

Darin, winning is all that matters, it truly is. I have always heard, the best coaches are typically the biggest jerks and I believe that to be true. Unless you love UGA, most probably think Kirby is a jerk too. I think the UGA media probably thinks Kirby is a jerk some of the time if not all the time (Chip Towers you can tell doesn't care for him). Our media group went from covering Mark Richt to Kirby. We had another change like that before, going from covering Ray Goff-good ole boy Ray who usually very polite to the media, to covering Jim Donnan who was usually an ass to the media.

Nick Saban is a great football coach/leader, there is no denying that. Do I like him, NO, but I respect how good he is and until he is gone, Bama will be hard to beat. Kirby is building us into a near identical copy of Bama-but we have a much better home state to recruit-so honestly I think our future can/will be brighter if we can get over the hump. We get over that final hurdle, watch out!!
