Franklin moved cross-country from Cal-Berkeley in January to be w/ her extended family (although she grew up in Centennial, CO), to pursue a psychology degree from UGA, and to train w/ legendary Swim Coach Jack Bauerle (who first coached her when she was 13) following two shoulder surgeries in 2017 and a year off from competitive swimming.

The six-time Olympic medalist has been enrolled in classes and training at Georgia since this January.

"I've been having the best experience here so far," Franklin said on April 25. "Loving the team, loving my coaches, but also loving school. I'm loving the classes and campus has been so fun. Getting around Athens too, finding my favorite restaurants and spots to study. It's just been the absolute best, and I really immediately felt at home here which was such a special feeling."
