ATHENS - After signing just one running back in each of the last two recruiting cycles, it’s time for Kirby Smart to turn up the heat in this current 2027 class.
The Dawgs have one current running back commitment in three-star Jakeyveon Parker over at Macon County. The Middle Georgia back stands at 5-foot-10 200-pounds and is fresh off a terrific junior season where he rushed for over 1,300 yards and 19 touchdowns, hitting the 100-yard mark eight times.
Now, look for Josh Crawford and the Dawgs to add a truly elite back to go along with Parker in this current cycle. Here’s who the Dawgs are after...
The big prize is five-star Kemon Spell. A former Penn State commitment, this dynamic Pennsylvania native was in Athens in November to take in Georgia’s win over Charlotte. Now, the No. 1 running back in the country plans to be back in the Classic City this weekend for a big Jr. Day visit. While many sources still think the Nittany Lions are the team to beat, look for the Georgia staff to roll out the red-carpet for Spell this weekend.
As a junior in 2025, the 5-foot-10 210-pounder ran for 1,755 yards and 28 touchdowns while missing five games. He also helped as a receiver out of the backfield and on special teams. He checks all the boxes and would be a massive addition for the Georgia staff if they can keep him away from Penn State. He’s ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in the country.

According to FanDuel, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has +230 odds of winning Super Bowl MVP.
Another elite running back target to know is David Gabriel Georges. A native of Canada who now plays at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Georges was named MaxPreps National Player of the Year last season after rushing for 1,756 yards and 27 touchdowns. Sources say Georgia is behind Ohio State and possibly others at the moment, but there’s still plenty of interest in Georgia. The elite back was in Athens last summer for “Scavenger Hunt Weekend” and had a lot to say about it after.
“The visit was great. It allowed me to view the campus. The scavenger hunt allowed me to learn more about the school as a whole. We had to find places and answer questions about specific items that are part of the school history and culture. It was very insightful. Georgia's pitch is that they want me, simple as that. They've been in constant with me and my family.”
He’s as the No. 2 RB and the No. 20 overall prospect in the country.
Of course, local running back Andrew Beard II continues to be a back that Georgia fans need to keep a close eye on. The Prince Avenue Christian (GA) playmaker is one of the more versatile running backs in the country and has always been high on Georgia. The nephew of former Bulldog Garrison Hearst, Beard is no stranger to Athens and was in town earlier this month. Beard took a visit to Tennessee over the weekend and will take a visit to Indiana this upcoming weekend before visiting Clemson on March 7th,
The do-it-all back from Bogart, Georgia rushed for just under 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He ran for just under eight yards a carry while hitting the 100-yard mark six times. The explosive 5-foot-9 190-pounder also caught 31 passes for 450 yards and five more touchdowns. He’s ranked as the No. 6 RB and the No.87 overall prospect in the country.
