ATHENS - As we’ve reported for weeks now, Kirby Smart and the other Georgia Bulldog staff members have hit the recruiting trail hard this month.
Co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson made stops in Alabama last week and extended offers to two promising defenders from Mobile.
2027 four-star linebacker Ellis McGaskin and promising 2029 safety Captain Munnerlyn Jr.
McGaskin earned his Bulldog offer while still being committed to Notre Dame, but three days after receiving his Georgia offer, the 6-foot-0 210 decided to open up his recruitment.
“I was super excited because I’ve been to campus a couple times and thought I was going to receive an offer but when I finally did I was excited. I know Georgia’a always a contender they are a very physical and well coached team.”
A tackling machine last season, McGaskin made 160 tackles, 27 TFLs and four blocked punts. He also forced two fumbles, recovered three more, and picked off one pass. He has a true nose for the football who can run, hit, and change the game defensively. He’s one of the more productive defenders across Alabama and someone Georgia fans need to know about moving forward.

According to FanDuel, Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold has +125 odds to win Super Bowl MVP against the New England Patriots.
Then there’s Munnerlyn. A familiar last name as his father played at South Carolina, this young defender is a versatile defensive back with a lengthy 6-foot-1 185-pounds. He’s got a nose for the football and really opened some eyes last fall in his first season. He didn’t look, or play like a freshman last year as he made 63 tackles, five TFLs, three sacks, two INTs, and two forced fumbles. His stock is on the rise and he earned new offers last week from Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida State, among others.
“My mom always told me to act like I been here before so when I was blessed with the offer I showed a little excitement but deep inside I was jumping and screaming.”
