2025 NFL Draft: Complete First-Round Order, Team Priorities & Offseason Updates
With the conclusion of the 2024 NFL season behind us, we eagerly look at an established order for the inaugural round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The task of determining who will occupy those positions is now paramount, with the NFL Scouting Combine imminent (February 23rd-March 4th).
With three UGA prospects tipped to be in the draft, and following Super Bowl LIX, it’s time to look at the NFL Draft Round 1 order (April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin), along with the most notable positions each team needs to fill.
Pick 1: Tennessee Titans
What do the Titans need? QB, Edge, OT, WR, S
As the season continued, Tennessee's need to acquire a quarterback became increasingly apparent. Will Levis not only lacked precision but also struggled to perform adequately under pressure. With the No.1 pick, the Titans get the pick of the bunch, and it’s highly likely that they’ll cover that QB spot first.
Pick 2: Cleveland Browns
What do the Browns need? QB, Edge, WR, OT, RB
The Browns battled to establish consistency at quarterback. Deshaun Watson had great expectations, but he began badly before getting hurt. Watson's Achilles damage will probably cause the Browns to miss some of 2025, but his contract is absolutely guaranteed. Still, the chance to uncover their future quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft might be too wonderful to ignore.
NFL Round 1 Draft - No.1 Overall Pick Odds
With the Titans and the Browns receiving the first and second NFL Draft Round 1, respectively, and the fact that they’ll most likely select a quarterback, let’s preview the odds for the NFL Draft First Pick futures.
Cameron Ward [-1000]
Abdul Carter [+500]
Travis Hunter [+3000]
Shedeur Sanders [+5000]
Armand Membou [+8000] (Odds courtesy of BetMGM)
Surprisingly, just two of the top five players expected to be selected as the first-round pick are quarterbacks (Cameron Ward and Shedeur Sanders). However, QB Ward, with a price of -650, presents a landslide in the oddsmakers' pricing next to Abdul Carter in second. With that said, also consider that a BetMGM Sportsbook promo code can be used to take advantage of a player’s short odds.
Pick 3: New York Giants
What do the Giants need? QB, OG, OT, S, CB
After Daniel Jones's tenure as quarterback came to an end earlier this season, the Giants joined the ranks of other teams searching for a new quarterback. While the club has to work on the rest of the supporting cast, especially the underperformance offensive line, the next QB1 should love throwing to Malik Nabers.
Pick 4: New England Patriots
What do the Patriots need? WR, OT, Edge, IOL, CB Drake Maye showed promise as a franchise quarterback after being taken third overall by the Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft. Considering how poorly Demontrey Jacobs and Vederian Lowe played, the Patriots really need to bring in a new safety net in the form of a WT for Maye starting in 2025.
Pick 5: Jacksonville Jaguars
What do the Jaguars need? CB, WR, S, IOL, QV The Jaguars need to fill a number of roster gaps, particularly in the secondary. The team could decide that addressing the safety position during free agency and investing its draft capital in a top cornerback in the NFL Draft are good ideas.
Pick 6: LA Raiders
What do the Raiders need? QB, RB, CB, WR, DT
The Raiders may feel resentment toward Antonio Pierce since their team dropped to sixth place in the draft order after beating the Jaguars in Week 16 and the Saints in Week 17. Depending on their assessment of the class's top prospects, they may consider drafting higher or signing a quarterback in free agency as a stopgap.
Pick 7: New York Jets
What do the Jets need? QB, OT, DT, CB, S T
he Jets' quarterback situation is one of the most obvious areas of uncertainty. They must determine whether this year's draft has a long-term solution.
Pick 8: Carolina Panthers
What do the Panthers need? Edge, WR, DT, QB, C
The Panthers should prioritise strengthening their defense during the draft, which is ranked dead last in the league. When star Derrick Brown returns from injury, the team needs big people to assist him, and their pass rush may use a game-changer.
Pick 9: New Orleans Saints
What do the Saints need? Edge, CB, TE, DT
Bryan Bresee, a sophomore defensive lineman, has emerged as a strong leader for the Saints' interior defensive line. But they should have more bodies in the edge rusher position. Both Cameron Jordan and Chase Young are approaching free agency, and the latter's play has been declining for a while. Finding a new offensive lineman to take Trevor Penning's place is another possible option.
Pick 10: Chicago Bears
What do the Bears need? OG, OT, C, WR, Edge
Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, the Bears need to figure out how to shield Caleb Williams better. Teven Jenkins and Coleman Shelton are ready to become free agents, but Braxton Jones and Jenkins proved they belong on the left side of the line.
Pick 11: San Francisco 49ers
What do the 49ers need? CB, Edge, DT, OG, LB
Further depth behind Nick Bosa would be helpful for the 49ers in 2025. With Issac Yiadom and Charvarius Ward's contract expirations, I anticipate secondary turnover as well.
Pick 12: Dallas Cowboys
What do the Cowboys need? RB, OG, LB, DT, CB After suffering a serious ankle injury at the age of 34, future Hall of Fame guard Zack Martin is considering retiring. If he were to go, the Cowboys' offensive line would be severely lacking. It ought to be a top priority to find someone to replace Martin.
Pick 13: Miami Dolphins
What do the Dolphins need? S, OG, LB, DT, QB
Not only is right guard Liam Eichenberg about to be a free agency, but the Dolphins' interior offensive line had a terrible 2024 season. The Dolphins should improve their quarterback protection options by drafting a guard with experience. Tua Tagovailoa deserves it.
Pick 14: Indianapolis Colts
What do the Colts need? IOL, TE, LB, S, CB
With a reliable interior offensive line (in the event that center Ryan Kelly does not return) and a first-rate tight end to serve as a safety valve, Anthony Richardson should be able to go to the next level.
Pick 15: Atlanta Falcons
What do the Falcons need? Edge, CB, C, WR, S
With Arnold Ebiketie playing well toward the conclusion of the season, the Falcon's pass rush got better as the season came to a close. That said, they need to find a successor for Matthew Judon if they let him test free agency. With just 31 sacks in 2024, they were ranked 31st among all teams.
Pick 16: Arizona Cardinals
What do the Cardinals need? Edge, WR, DT, OT, OG
The Cardinals really need a pass rusher who can reliably rack up double-digit sacks. Their hopes were placed on Zaven Collins, but since making the switch from linebacker to defensive end, he has not managed to accumulate more than six sacks. Permitting Baron Browning and Dennis Gardeck to depart will also leave them without depth.
Pick 17: Cincinnati Bengals
What do the Bengals need?
Joe Burrow led a squad with critical needs on offense and defense to a season worthy of MVP consideration. If Mike Gesicki and Tee Higgins, the tight end and receiver, are not re-signed, the team will need to prioritize skill positions early in the draft.
Pick 18: Seattle Seahawks
What do the Seahawks need? OG, LB, QB, DT, OT
With 50 sacks in 2024, Geno Smith ranked fourth among NFL quarterbacks. Only offensive lineman Charles Cross played well for the Seahawks in 2024. In order to be ready by 2025, the offensive line needs various upgrades.
Pick 19: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
What do the Buccaneers need? WR, LB, OG, Edge, OT
Future Hall of Fame wide receiver Mike Evans has one more year left on his deal in 2025, and slot receiver Chris Godwin, who hurt his ankle in October and missed the entire season, may go in free agency. Despite Jalen McMillan's impressive performance in Godwin's absence, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might benefit from adding another top-tier receiver to help Baker Mayfield reach his full potential in the upcoming season and beyond.
Pick 20: Denver Broncos
What do the Broncos need? TE, LB, WR, DT, S
In the wake of Alex Singleton's injury, the Broncos linebackers Cody Barton and Justin Strnad took the most snaps. Aside from Singleton, who turns 32 later this year, the defense is nearly flawless outside of Strnad and Barton. Singleton will likely start again in 2025, but the team should prioritize drafting a young linebacker. A competent tight end on the receiving end would also strengthen the Broncos' offense.
Pick 21: Pittsburgh Steelers
What do the Steelers need? QB, RB, CB, OT, WR
The decision to extend either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson will determine if the Steelers need a quarterback. The prospect of acquiring a young, gifted receiver to play opposite George Pickens is potentially attractive. Neither Van Jefferson nor Mike Williams were effective outside receivers, but Calvin Austin proved he could manage the slot receiving position.
Pick 22: Los Angeles Chargers
What do the Chargers need? Edge, C, DT, S, TE
Both Asante Samuel and Khalil Mack will soon be free agents. If they are unable to play, the Chargers have depth players who can step up. Nevertheless, they should focus on bringing in a younger class to play edge rusher and a cornerback to bolster the unit's pass coverage against quarterbacks Bo Nix and Patrick Mahomes.
Pick 23: Green Bay Packers
What do the Packers need? CB, DT, Edge, WR, C
The Packers will likely choose a cornerback in the upcoming draft in order to address the departure of previous first-round pick Eric Stokes and the availability issues experienced by two-time Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander.
Pick 24: Minnesota Vikings
What do the Vikings need? CB, RB, DT, S, OG
Byron Murphy, Shaquill Griffin, Fabian Moreau, and Stephon Gilmore are all cornerbacks on the Minnesota Vikings who will be free agents in the near future. If healthy, Mekhi Blackmon should have a significant impact for the Vikings next season, but they should still get a young cornerback this spring.
Pick 25: Houston Texans
What do the Texans need? WR, DT, CB, OG, OT
With Robert Woods and Stefon Diggs set to enter free agency in 2025 and Tank Dell out with a knee injury, the Texans will prioritize a receiver in 2025. If this squad wants to get to the next level, they need to recruit another dangerous receiver to complement Nico Collins.
Pick 26: Los Angeles Rams
What do the Rams need? OT, CB, WR, TE, LB
Joe Noteboom and Alaric Jackson, two offensive tackles, will be entering free agency. No matter who the Rams re-sign, finding a replacement cornerback for Matthew Stafford must be a top priority. Warren McClendon Jr. is most effective in the roles of starter right tackle and backup swing tackle. The remaining term of Rob Havenstein's contract is a mere year.
Pick 27: Baltimore Ravens
What do the Ravens need? OT, Edge, WR, S, OG
Ever since he joined the NFL in 2016, Ronnie Stanley has been a top-tier left tackle. After 2025, the Ravens will still want Stanley on board, but they'll need to get creative to keep him due to their anticipated cap room limitations. Due to the high expense of keeping Stanley, the Ravens might not be able to re-sign left guard Patrick Mekari.
Pick 28: Detroit Lions
What do the Lions need? Edge, WR, CB, DT, OG
Unfortunately, Carlton Davis, who was the top cornerback for the Lions in 2024, is about to become a free agent. Meanwhile, backup cornerback Kindle Vildor's contract is about to lapse as well. He filled in for Davis in 2024 while he was out with an injury, but he didn't do enough to warrant a contract extension. The injury to outstanding edge defender Aidan Hutchinson highlighted the position's lack of depth. Detroit must also identify a long-term replacement for 32-year-old Za'Darius Smith, whose contract is up until 2026.
Pick 29: Washington Commanders
What do the Commanders need? Edge, WR, OT, LB, CB
If Clelin Ferrell and Dante Fowler Jr., who are set to become free agents, do not return in 2025, the Commanders will require additional pass rushers. Head coach Dan Quinn needs to boost physicality and quickness along the defensive perimeter.
Pick 30: Buffalo Bills
What do the Bills need? DT, Edge, WR, S, CB
A top-tier wide receiver would be a huge boost for Josh Allen and the offense as a whole. Amari Cooper is expected to depart the team during free agency after failing to repeat his previous success. Wide receiver Mack Hollins, who has never shown he can be more than a depth player, is also about to become a free agent. The Bills will require a new cornerback if Rasul Douglas leaves in free agency since backup Kaiir Elam has not lived up to his promise in 2024. H2:
Pick 31: Kansas City Chiefs
What do the Chiefs need? DT, OT, OG, Edge, WR
The Chiefs may have to reevaluate their defensive strategies, as All-Pro Chris Jones is the only defensive lineman on their roster who is contracted until 2025. Also, if Trey Smith walks in free agency, they may look to add a left tackle and a right guard to their starting lineup. H2:
Pick 32: Philadelphia Eagles
What do the Eagles need? Edge, LB, WR, K, OG
How the Eagles handle free agency will determine their top priority. The Eagles will have to bolster their core of edge rushers if they permit Super Bowl hero Josh Sweat to depart, despite Nolan Smith's breakout season and Jalyx Hunt's strong performance towards the end of the year. There would be a huge void in the Eagles' defense if linebacker Zack Baun took advantage of his breakout season and left in free agency. After suffering a serious knee injury during the Eagles' playoff run, linebacker Nakobe Dean will likely be out for a while, and Oren Burks, who will have been filling in for him, is expected to be a free agency.
