ATHENS - It’s been a busy month of March for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs

Not only are the Dawgs in the second week of spring practice, they also have plenty of top targets coming in and out of Athens to check on the 2025 Bulldogs.

An out-of-state defender that Bulldog fans need to keep an eye on if four-star linebacker, Nick Abrams II‍.

The 6-foot-2 210-pounder out of McDonough (MD) was in Athens over the weekend and made a big statement to Dawg Post about how he feels about the Bulldogs.

“I learned a lot from this practice”, Abrams said. “The intensity that they play with and practice with is great. The coaching and the way the players received the coaching was also a good thing to see. My biggest takeaway was how much of a priority Coach Smart and Coach Schumann said I was. It was great to spend a weekend with them to hang out and talk.”

According to FanDuel, the Georgia Bulldogs have +1550 odds to reach the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament.

“Georgia’s special to me because they meet my three things I would want in a school”, Abrams added. “They are transparent and have a family atmosphere, they put guys in the League and develop young men, and lastly they have a degree and or connections that will set you up for life.”

On film, it’s easy to see why Abrams has climbed up Georgia’s recruiting board. While he may not have jaw-dropping numbers, he’s a linebacker with strong instincts against the run, takes correct angles to the ball-carrier, and knows how to make a fundamentally sound tackle. He closes quickly on the run, doesn’t miss tackles, and moves well laterally for his size. He brings a versatile skill-set that allows him to play outside in certain situations and can be a weapon on the blitz when attacking the quarterback.

Ranked as the No. 18 LB and No. 259 overall prospect in the 2026 class, Abrams is coming off a strong junior season where he made 77 tackles and nine TFLs to go along with four sacks, one INT and one blocked punt.

Other top linebacker targets include five-star Tyler Atkinson‍, four-star Xavier Griffin‍, four-star Shadarius Toodle‍, four-star Brayden Rouse‍, among others.
