ATHENS - After landing a commitment from four-star safety Zechariah Fort‍ last week, Kirby Smart and the Dawgs had another top safety in town last weekend.

That would be four-star, Jireh Edwards‍.

Ranked as the No. 4 safety prospect and the No. 37 overall prospect in the 2026 class, Edwards is a 6-foot-1 200-pound defensive back who was really impressed with his visit to Georgia this past weekend.

“I learned more about player development and a deeper meaning of the game. They were keeping it real and let me know I’m a special talent and I’m definitely a guy they want to see in that Red and black.”

As a player, it’s easy to see why Edwards is ranked where he is. He brings size, length, instincts, and a physical presence in the run game. He can get down-hill and make a big hit in the backfield, but also shows range and ball skills down the field in coverage. He’s a versatile defensive back who can bring an intimidating presence as well. He’s one of the top safety prospects in the country and someone the Georgia staff will continue to push hard for in the 2026 class. Edwards also confirmed plans to give Georgia an official visit down the road.

According to FanDuel, the Buffalo Bills have +850 odds to win the 2026 Super Bowl next season.

Another out-of-state defensive back in town was four-star cornerback, Caden Harris‍. One of the top overall prospects in Tennessee, this 6-foot-0 170-pounder out of Haywood High School earned an offer from Georgia in June of last year and was back in Athens for a big Jr. Day visit this past weekend.

“I learned how much everyone leans on each other in order to make everything come together and flow as one”, Harris told Dawg Post. “They pretty much show how they can have an impact on my development and mold me into the player and man I want to be. They’re recruiting me to play corner, but of course they have different packages and things that could vary. I set up an official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 6th.

Harris is ranked as the No. 15 CB prospect and the No. 5 overall prospect in Tennessee
