ATHENS - ESPN's Paul Finebaum isn’t super impressed with the South Carolina Gamecocks, and he let his audience know it on Tuesday.

The longtime SEC commentator said he was interested in watching No. 1 UGA Football play its first SEC football game of the season. Georgia has won by a combined 93-10 in the first two games of the year. South Carolina comes into the game Between the Hedges with a 1-1 record - having lost to North Carolina and struggling for a half against Furman.

"I want to see what Georgia can do against a real opponent,” Finebaum said Tuesday. “South Carolina will provide that. They might not provide much more.’

The Bulldogs are listed as near four-touchdown favorites to beat Carolina. The series between the two schools has been lopsided this decade with the Dawgs outscoring the Cocks 133-36 in three blowout wins.

Spencer Rattler returns at quarterback for South Carolina. He is 55-for-66 for 698 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Rattler leads the league in Completion Percentage at 83 percent. The leading rusher is Dakereon Joyner who has 65 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns.

Xavier Legette leads the Gamecocks and the SEC in receiving with 15 catches for 296 yards and a score and is the SEC receiving leader in Yards/ Game with 148. This marks the first of six SEC games in a row for the Gamecocks, including four away from campus. As usual, South Carolina will conclude its season with a non-conference showdown with Clemson.

Georgia’s game with the Chickens will kickoff at 3:30 PM on CBS. The two programs are not scheduled to play one another in 2024. It will be the first time the two have not faced off in a season since the 1991 season - the year before South Carolina started play in the SEC.
