ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said after Saturday’s 55-0 win over Vanderbilt that WR Ladd McConkey could have returned to the game.
Instead McConkey stayed out of the game after taping up his left ankle. McConkey was injured on the Georgia sideline, and went under the medical tent.
“Ladd is fine,” Kirby said. “He could have gone back in.”
Kirby indicated that offensive lineman Xavier Truss, who was banged up during the contest, was also “fine.”
Georgia enters the bye week of the season with a slew of injuries. Players like Jalen Carter, Smael Mondon, and A.D. Mitchell missed UGA’s homecoming win on Saturday. Kirby told reporters that he wasn’t sure about the return of any particular player.
“Some of these guys I am not sure if I am going to get them back. It is a time - each injury is different,” he said. “Ultimately some players handle injures better than others. It is no realistic to think that we will get everyone back before Florida.”
Kirby added, specifically, this about Smael Mondon:
“I'm not sure if Monden was really close (to playing) today,” he said.
