ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs took on Vanderbilt today in Sanford Stadium, so you know exactly how the game went.

Georgia dominated in every fashion on their way to an easy 55-0 victory. The Bulldogs had total control from the very beginning, putting the game away early on, and taking a comfortable 28-0 lead into the half.

Offensively, Georgia got off too a fast start and put points on the board early. They ran the ball at will, and Stetson Bennett was outstanding in the first half, going 18/20 for 211 yards and two touchdowns. He threw some darts, made plays with his feet, and led the offense up and down the field. He was efficient in 3rd down situations as the Bulldogs were 5/7 on 3rd down in the first half. Bennett would end the day 24/30 for 289 yards and two touchdowns.

It wasn’t a perfect day offensively, but they had 579 total offensive yards in the victory. It’s hard to complain about that. They also kept the play-calling pretty vanilla, not exactly trying to light up the scoreboard, even thought they finished with 55 points.

Darnell Washington showed why he’s one of the more unique players in college football. The big tight end was a major weapon in the passing game, catching four passes for 78 yards which led the team. Freshman Dillon Bell was fantastic as well, catching five passes for 54 yards.

Georgia rushed for 192 yards, with Daijun Edwards being the team’s leading rusher with 49 yards on the ground and one touchdown.

Defensively, the Bulldogs looked strong again. This is a group that just plays well together. They’re building more chemistry on defense and they continue to play fast and physical. They gave up some opportunities down the field in the passing game, and it was far from a perfect day for Kelee Ringo, but all in all, this was an outstanding game once again for the Bulldog defense.

Vanderbilt’s offense is not impressive. We knew the ‘Dores would have trouble moving the football and that’s what we saw in today’s win.

Georgia came out strong, threw the ball effectively, and played strong defense. They still didn’t play their “best”, but they played the way you expect a No. 1 team to play against a team like Vanderbilt.

Georgia’s defense gave up zero points and just150 total yards. Offensively, Georgia tallied 579 total yards and put 55 points on the scoreboard.

Overall, this is a classic Vanderbilt beatdown. Georgia played well in all three phases of the game, the backups got some much-needed playing time, and the defense finished the game with a shutout. Couldn’t ask for much more than that.
