That's the rumor.
I hope so too. Is there any indication that we can?Microwave said:
Geez. I hope we can do better.
His FG% last season would have ranked 4th on our squad (1st among guards) and his 3P% would have ranked 3rd (behind only Abdur-Rahim and McBride). I'm not sure "other teams don't have to guard him" is correct.Dawg44 said:
We certainly don't need him. He can't play defense. He can't shoot. Not even free throws. The other teams don't even have to guard him, so that allows them to double team one of our good players. We can do much better than him.
Wheeler is not a good shooter; we watched him for 2 years up close and personal. And he certainly cannot defend one on one. I don't think it's a good argument to say that, because he shot better than most on our team last year, we should go after him. We were godawful shooting last year. I want to add players that are a significant upgrade. That would not be Wheeler. I told a couple of people we were recruiting Wheeler, and they just laughed and said, "You cannot be serious"....StevieBuckets said:His FG% last season would have ranked 4th on our squad (1st among guards) and his 3P% would have ranked 3rd (behind only Abdur-Rahim and McBride). Your observation about his free throw shooting, however, is spot on. He was a 70+% shooter until last season, but his free throw shooting cratered.
I'm simply offering facts. I presented his shooting percentages from last season. Anyone here can interpret them as they wish.Monkdawg said:

No argument here. Neither could 95% of our team last season. That's why I didn't even mention his defense. It represents neither an upgrade nor a downgrade.Monkdawg said:

I agree on all points. I'm stopping short of saying we should aggressively pursue him. I am arguing, however, that we shouldn't slam the door in his face. Everyone keeps saying they want to upgrade. Hey me too! Seems pretty obvious.Monkdawg said:
