I hope everyone saw the enormous seating changes that will go down next season. While I have always advocated putting students on the side opposite the benches (as it will improve the game atmosphere and hopefully build a new generation of basketball fans), many long-time season ticketholders will be screwed by the changes, myself among them. I will have some tough decisions to make. There is no way I can qualify for my current seats, and even if I did, they would now be behind the visitors' bench - not where I want to be. These changes reward the johnny come lately big donors at the expense of long-time supporters....

Yeah, two things are true from my perspective:

I will likely be negatively impacted by these changes.
I am a big fan of these changes.

I am blessed enough that I can afford some of the premium seating if I'd like to, but I have "only" been a season ticket holder for 8 years, and I am well below the 50,000 PP threshold, so I am immediately slotted into selection group 5 right alongside anyone buying tickets for the first time. I'm guessing that means I won't have a shot at those seats even if I want them. I suppose this makes me a "johnny come lately," and in that sense, it hurts me more than it helps.

However, switching the benches and getting the students courtside are two things I've been asking for in my end-of-year feedback since I started, so I'm glad to see those get implemented, even if it means my seat location suffers. And if people paying more for those premium seats means replacing a lot of empty seats with butts in seats, even better.
