ATHENS - Surprise, surprise. UGA Football coach Todd Hartley lands another elite tight target.
Rinse and repeat. This time Hartley lands a priority target and one of the top offensive weapons across the country in the 2026 class.
Of course, it’s five-star tight end, Kaiden Prothro.
The in-state pass-catching star out of Bowdon (GA) is a three-time state champion and was a major target for the Bulldogs throughout his recruitment. The 6-foot-6 220-pounder chose Georgia today over Texas and Florida, giving the Bulldogs another elite prospect on the commit list.
Once again, Todd Hartley does his job and lands one of the best of the best across the country.
DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!
According to FanDuel, the Georgia Bulldogs have +600 odds to win the national championship during the 2025 season.
What will Prothro bring to Athens?
Size, versatility, and ball-skills.
A pass-catching machine who can line up a traditional tight end or out wide as a receiver, Prothro was one of the most productive weapons across the country last season as a junior, catching 56 passes for 1,203 yards and 22 touchdowns in just 15 games. He’s a giant mismatch who is faster than tight ends and bigger defensive backs. He’s tough to match up with and does a great job of using his size to his advantage. He can line up in the slot and make plays in the middle of the field or flex out wide and create opportunities in single coverage on the perimeter. No matter where you put him, Prothro is going to thrive
As a bigger pass-catcher, Prothro is tough to bring down and tackle for just one defender. He runs with authority after the catch and runs really well for his size. However, he’s also a crisp route-runner who can get open on his own. It’s hard to find someone who moves and changes directions like Prothro can at that size.
Prothro is also a willing blocker who can block on the line or out on the perimeter. Georgia’s speedy, explosive receivers should have a lot of fun running behind his blocks in the screen and short passing game. He brings length, strength, and enough athleticism to block both heavy edge defenders in the trenches and speedy linebackers in space.
In the passing game, Prothro will get Georgia lots of options. He can line up all over the place and can stretch the field vertically. He can win jump-balls and should be a major weapon in the red-zone when left in single coverage. He’s a multi-sport standout who can really jump and snatch the ball over smaller defenders. He’s a touchdown machine and should get plenty of opportunities to make plays around the goal-line.
All in all, there aren’t a lot of prospects like Prothro. He’s a multi-sport standout who plays at a program that has a winning standard. He works hard, loves to compete, and doesn’t enjoy losing. The kid is a winner and has put up giant numbers throughout his high school career.
Prothro is ranked as the No. 2 TE prospect and the No. 29 overall prospect in the country.
