BREAKING: 4-star DB Tyriq Green Commits To Kirby Smart, UGA Football
ATHENS - Kirby Smart and UGA Football just landed ANOTHER dynamic safety commitment in the 2026 class.
After landing three safeties already, Smart and the Dawgs have earned a big-time commitment from in-state defensive back Tyriq Green.
The do-it-all athlete for the Buford Wolves earned an offer from Georgia as a freshman at Kell High School and has continued to be a top target for the Bulldogs over the last three years. Now, Green has “Committed to the G”, giving the Dawgs another highly-ranked commitment from the Peach State.
Green chose Georgia today over Auburn and Miami, giving the Bulldogs their fourth safety commitment in the 2026 class.
DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!
According to FanDuel, the Atlanta Falcons have +146 odds of making the NFL Playoffs next season.
What will Green bring to Athens?
Toughness, versatility, and a nose for the football.
The might Buford Wolves normally don’t need someone to play on both sides of the ball. It does happen occasionally, but that’s a program that has enough talent to go around.
However, Green isn’t your typical athlete. He’s a natural playmaker who lined up at both running back and in the secondary for the Wolves in 2024.
At running back, Green ran for 527 yards and 8 touchdowns, averaging 6.8 yards per carry. On defense, the talented 5-foot-10 190-pounder made only 28 tackles but picked off five passes in coverage.
He’s a natural in coverage who closes well on the receiver and knows how to make a play on the football. He shows great instincts and consistently puts himself in a position to make a big play. Against the run, Green takes good angles to the ball-carrier and knows how to deliver a sound hit behind his pads. He’s one of the hardest-hitting safeties in the state and plays with the fire and aggression that the Georgia staff loves.
All in all, Green’s athleticism and competitive drive are two traits that really stand out. From the very beginning of his career, Green has been making plays. He has a natural feel for the game and knows how to make plays wherever he’s lined. His physicality in the run game and strong ball skills in coverage will give the Georgia staff another weapon in the secondary down the road.
Green is ranked as the No. 13 safety prospect and the No.165 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class.
