I swear, Dowdle must have pictures of the president or AD or something. He just mails it in every game I hear. No analysis whatsoever. Scott Howard never really tells you where the ball is on the floor, so it's impossible to see the game in your head. Howard will "describe" something, and Dowdle will just add "great play by X" without saying anything new. If we're not willing to replace Howard, at least get someone with a pulse to replace Dowdle. His rah rah cheerleader BS with no analysis just doesn't add anything to a broadcast. Last year, in a pre-game show, Howard asked what Dowdle's keys to the game were in one game, and Dowdle actually said that he lost his sheet, so he couldn't give keys to the game. OMG....
As for the game itself, a 19 pt win over Hampton without Oquendo or Moncrieffe is probably pretty good. We hit our 3s early in the game and Bridges finally played like himself to help us pull away. It wasn't a resounding win over a pretty bad Hampton team, but we have now won as many games in November as well won all last season. The guys continue to play hard and seem to have discovered that you have to play defense to win. But we are still a work in progress, as White said after the game. He said he and his staff are evaluating every day to try to whittle down the players they play every game, but they just can't seem to do it because people are so even and deserving of a shot at PT.
I couldn't be happier for Ingram. He's kept a great attitude and been a leader even when he couldn't play. He hit some big 3s in the 1st half and played nearly 20 minutes in this game. I knew he could help us as soon as he got cleared and in playing shape. White hinted that we might play some small ball with Ingram at the 5 in the future. He just adds to the staff's problem of paring down the roster. We need to use that depth and play more pressure defense with presses and traps IMHO. Nobody is doing much of that these days, so it could help us in games where we are out-talented, which will be most games. It's not like we have anything to lose. Spring it on as we play tougher competition, beginning this month.
I do wish we would cut down on TOs. Big men should not be dribbling in the paint. That's recipe for a steal. The guards, while better in this game, still are too loose with the ball. We just can't afford empty possessions.
