Did anyone get to see the practice on Saturday?

Former lettermen were invited. I understand that White and his staff were a big hit with our former players, and White took a number of questions after the practice. Haven't heard much about individual performances because so many of the kids are new that those watching weren't familiar with their names yet. LOL

I heard that White said he has been really happy with the effort he is seeing in practice and that he promises we will play hard this season. That will be a nice change.

Would be great to hear any tidbits.

From the limited hype videos they have released - I know, I know, they are called hype videos for a reason - there appears to be defensive (priority) and overall energy.

I still believe this team had the capacity to be better than its record last year.

There were a number of factors that conspired against us last year. 2 early season-ending injuries to starters, poor PG play, TOs, no defense, coaches fighting each other, and Crean being, well, Crean.... We brought last year's best players and have supplemented some solid talent. Effort will be there. I just don't know how high the bar is for this team, having not seen most of the team play at all.

It's always hard to decipher preseason hype. I hope it's all true. It's meaningful that the lettermen are impressed.

If White sniffs .500 overall this season and starts to build a little recruiting momentum, I'll call that a major success.

A little bit more info that I have gathered from a couple of people. People have been really impressed with White AND HIS WHOLE STAFF. They are all personable and out-going. It's no wonder they have had success in recruiting, and we can expect recruiting success for them at UGA, too. Roberts, the Bradley transfer, just got to campus about 2 weeks ago; he might be a bit smaller than expected, but it is clear that his biggest success will come in the open court. A friend said that he thought Lindsay, the freshman from TX might start. I don't see that honestly, once Ingram gets back healthy. I think Ingram has too much experience and too good of an all around game not to start. Oquendo will start obviously, but White is working with him on his defense. He needs to stop reaching and picking up dumb fouls. Same with JAR. Move those feet on defense.... Bridges will start in the middle. He has looked good in summer drills and gives us more offense than Anselem, who is longer and a bit better on defense - a bit more athletic. Moncrieffe seems to be the likely starter at 4. Experience and athleticism will favor him, and he has decent size. PG is a bit up for grabs between Roberts and Hill, the Longwood transfer. Hill has looked really good this summer particularly shooting the ball. Roberts has to get acclimated and learn the system. Hill has a head start. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

Apparently, our 1 commitment at present has transferred from Dacula to Legacy up in Greenville, SC. Still committed to us and not likely to change. I hear we are getting some good interest around the south with White and staff.
