i've honestly never seen anything like this.
College basketball will be a year-by-year crapshoot for the next few years, maybe forever, until this transfer fad passes, if it passes. Paying Crean off and hiring on the cheap won't make much difference one way or the other in my opinion.
I have 4 years of eligibility left and a pair of New Balance basketball shoes itching to be used.
What has Tom Crean done to create this much turnover?
He can taste that buyout $$$
I'll have to call the NCAA & see if I have any unused eligibility.
I'm hoping the 7 years (including summers) it took for me to get my BFA won't be used against me.

Dennis Felton was an a-hole. Mark Fox was an a-hole. Now it appears Tom Crean might be an a-hole.
Maybe next time we can avoid hiring an a-hole.

At this point you just have to cut your losses and fire Crean. Next year is already going to be a disaster. I don't know what we gain by keeping him on. The Crean experiment seemed like a good idea but it's just not working. Even the national PR surrounding the program is bad and that isn't going to help recruiting as long as he hangs around.
Go read Juwan Parker's twitter. He's enjoying the moment.

I have been pro letting Crean have another year, but I don't see how he turns this around.
Crean does not impress me as an A-hole but he may be more aloof with the players than anything. It is hard to imagine that they don't like his style of play but who knows. They may just believe that UGA will never win much and they want to enjoy some winning.

The ending of this chapter of UGA hoops has been written. We all know how it ends. The only question is whether they try and negotiate him out now or allow him to immolate himself - and the program even further - to save on the buy-out next March 1.
I am rapidly moving from "they need to do an exhaustive search and hire the best coach for UGA" to they got to find someone to stop the bleeding and give the program an ounce of hope. I'm not sure he's ready to be a head coach. I'm not sure he will be any better than the three clowns that preceded him. But Jonas Hayes may be the ONLY person who'd take the job now.

I readily admit that I'm not much of a basketball guy, but Sahvir Wheeler is a vastly undersized PG who can't shoot at all.

Parker was a very average (at best) college player. It appears he now wants to make a name for himself in the media, etc. He has written a book, wants to get people'attention. HE may be right - he may just be put for his name in the paper so to speak - who knows. I just would be careful attaching what he says to all players.

Parker knows Crean. Crean's players are leaving. Even ones who played the most and would have continued playing.
It's not like Savhir Wheeler is headed to Gonzaga to start lol.
I have no idea if he's trying to push his book. However, the evidence for people liking Crean isn't exactly piling up. You aren't seeing old players getting his back regarding Parker. That says a lot too.

fair enough - I get it... just can't belive Parker is calling himself the most educated man in college basketball.. hard to trust a 26 yr old who self-proclaims that.

He led the league in assist with 193. Second was 109. Now he also led the league in turnovers, but the hope was that he would cut down on those. He was tied for first in assist/turnover.RyanJordan said:

He is just a sophomore, and I for one was looking forward to having him run the point the next few years
Haven't we seen enough? Time to cut our losses. I don't see how a first year, hungry, young coach could run the program any worse than it is being done now. Give Jonas a shot. What do we have to lose?

All the best recruits have pretty much decided where they are going. Our best players have left in the transfer portal.
Why bring a dude in for sure failure next year? At this point, save the money and hire next year. Use this year to put out feelers.
