ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are fresh off a historic month on the recruiting trail and could see several more targets “Commit to the G” in July.
Where do the Dawgs stand with some of their top remaining targets? Let’s take a look..
We have to start off with five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson. The No. 1 LB prospect out of Grayson (GA) earned an offer from the Bulldogs when he was in 8th grade and has always had Georgia towards the top of his list. As we’ve reported throughout his recruitment, we still believe Georgia is the team to beat. Ohio State, Clemson, Texas, and Oregon are all still in the mix, but sources continue to tell Dawg Post that the Bulldogs are in the driver’s seat. He has a great relationship with Glenn Schumann, Kirby Smart and the rest of the Georgia staff. While there’s no set decision date, a sources say a commitment could come in late July or early August. It’s going to be very hard for Atkinson to tell Glenn Schumann “no thanks” when it’s time to make a decision. The Bulldogs remain in great shape to land the elite in-state defender.
A tight end to keep a close eye on this week is four-star Brayden Fogle who makes his commitment on Friday. The four-star from Ohio will be choosing from Georgia, LSU and Penn State. Several sources tell Dawg Post that Georgia could easily be the pick here. The 6-foot-4 235-pounder was in Athens for his official visit the weekend of June 6th and sources say it was an eye-opening visit for the No. 10 TE prospect in the country. Todd Hartley is an ace recruiter and he might land another playmaking tight end very soon in Fogle. The Lexington (OH) standout is a multi-sport star with size, strong hands, and the ability to ring physicality in the run game. He’s ranked as the No. 159 overall prospect in the country and has a chance to be Georgia’s next commitments.

According to FanDuel, the Los Angeles Rams have +800 odds to win the NFC during the 2025 season.
Speaking of tight ends, Dawg Post continues to hear Georgia sits in an excellent position with elite in-state target, Kaiden Prothro. We’re told a commitment from Fogle would not impact Georgia’s chances with Prothro as the Dawgs have no problem taking three tight ends in this cycle. Prothro has been a major target for Hartley for a long, long time now and sources say Georgia leads Texas and Florida after taking his official visits last June. The three-time state champion out of Bowdon (GA) will make his commitment on July 12th. From what we’ve gathered over the last week, we think Georgia continues to sit in a great spot to land him. 6-foot-6 220-pounder is coming off a dominant junior season where he caught 56 passes for 1,203 yards and 22 touchdowns in 15 games. He’s ranked as the No. 2 TE and No. 29 overall prospect in the country.
Another in-state target committing on July 12th is four-star defensive back, Tyriq Green. A do-it-all playmaker for the Buford Wolves, Green first earned his offer from Georgia during his freshman season at Kell (GA). The Bulldogs already have three safeties on the commit list, but Green isn’t a guy the Georgia staff is turning down. They’ve recruited him for years and sources say they would welcome him with a giant smile on their face if he decides to jump on board. This second, we like Georgia’s chances. Green picked off five passes for the Wolves last fall while rushing for 527 yards and 8 touchdowns. He’s ranked as the No. 13 safety and the No. 165 overall prospect in the country.
A defensive line prospect to keep an eye on is four-star Valdin Sone. A native of Sweden who has made his way to American in hopes of making a career out of football, Sone is a quick, powerful interior lineman at 6-foot-4 320-pounds who took his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 20th. The Bulldogs have six current defensive line commitments, but sources say the staff would make room for Sone if he wanted to jump on board. Sources say the Florida Gators may be in the best position to land him at the moment, but don’t count out the Dawgs here. A decision could come within the next two weeks.
At running back, all eyes are on four-star Derrek Cooper. Ranked as the No. 3 running back prospect in the country, Cooper is a do-it-all player for Chaminade-Madonna Prep at 6-foot-1 190-pounds who originally planned to make a commitment on July 12th. Those are no longer the plans and sources say Cooper could make a commitment sooner, possibly early next week or in the coming days. Sources say the Bulldogs are in a favorable position to land him, but the Texas Longhorns and local Miami Hurricanes also have his full attention. Cooper rushed for 905 yards and 13 touchdowns last season on offense. Defensively, the 6-foot-1 190-pounder made 46 tackles, 10 TFLs, four sacks, one INT, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two blocked punts. He’s ranked as the No.3 RB and the No. 35 overall prospect in the country.
A linebacker to continue monitoring is four-star Nick Abrams II. The Maryland native has been high on Georgia throughout his recruitment and will be making his decision on July 16th between Georgia, Michigan, Alabama and Oregon. He’s always had great things to say about the Dawgs, and they are very much still in the mix, but sources say this could ultimately come down to Michigan or Oregon. However, you can never rule out Glenn Schumann when talking about standout linebackers. Abrams is ranked as the No. 14 LB prospect and the No. 211 overall prospect in the country.
