I think in a perfect world you would have gone for the new Texas coach.
He's going to be a good fit I think.
Two days ago Chris Beard signed a 7-year, $35M contract w/ Texas. $5M/year.
Tom Crean earned $3,363,066 last fiscal year (i.e., 1 July 2019 - 30 June 2020).
In Fiscal Year 2019 UGA spent $7,756,002 on its men's basketball program (last in the SEC and 63rd in Division I). That same year Texas spent $11,649,912 (19th in Division I) on their men's basketball program while Texas Tech (where Beard just left) spent $12,338,645 (17th in Division I) on theirs. Marquette (where Shaka Smart left Texas for) spent $21,856,683 on their men's basketball program.
How much is UGA willing to spend on its men's basketball head coach, assistant coaches, support staff, and recruiting? Last in the conference won't attract the best applicants.
