Powder Springs, GA - Year after year the state of Georgia produces an elite safety or two that goes on to do big things at the collegiate level.

From Malaki Starks, to Caleb Downs, to KJ Bolden and more, the list goes on and on. Now, the next one up McEachern (GA) playmaker Casey Barner‍.

The dynamic sophomore in nicknamed “Superman”, and when you turn on the tape, it’s easy to see why. The physically-gifted 6-foot-1 195-pound safety shows natural instincts, elite athleticism, toughness, versatility and more. He’s an easy five-star prospect ranked as the No. 1 safety prospect in the country and the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2028 class.

Barner recently spoke with Dawg Post about his recruitment and early interest in the Georgia Bulldogs.

On what he likes most about Georgia...

“What I like the most about Georgia is they're not just selling me a vision. Usually when I go to the other programs, they’re just selling me a vision and bragging about what they do. But Georgia, they’re different from all that. They just let me know what it is.”

“Coach T-Rob and coach Dante (Williams) have done a great job getting to know me and my family. They've been home since eighth grade. That was one of the best days ever when I first got offered. I was going into my freshman season in spring of 8th grade. I was at a spring game and they were able to play me, I caught an interception, and Georgia offered me right at the game. Those guys have been on me for a minute, man. Coach Smart and I have a great relationship. We go along way.”

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, the Michigan Wolverines have +700 odds of winning the national championship next season.

On his takeaway from watching spring practice...

“It was definitely a secondary. I saw KJ Bolden getting after it for sure. Ty Boogie, Blake Stewart from Woodward Academy, they’re still young, but I look up to a lot of those guys and I talk to them a lot. I talked to a lot of these guys already.”

On what Georgia likes most about his game...

“It's definitely my versatility. I’m also very physical. They always say that stands out to them most because usually when guys come in, they always shy away from the opportunity, but a guy like me, I'm very physical and tough. On the field I’m very versatile, that’s what they say all the time when I go there.”

On recent spring visits...

“I went College Station and Ohio State. It was my second time up to Ohio State. Earl Little, he was going crazy out there. I feel like they really have brotherhood out there. The way they bond and how they move as a unit is kind of crazy. I really enjoyed it. I went to Florida and LSU, too.”

On school recruiting him the hardest...

“Definitely Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Miami, and Ole Miss.

On what he looks for during visits...

“Definitely how they're coaching their players and how they grow together as a unit. How they understand their players. I try to get to know the whole stuff and see how they move as a unit.”

On what makes Georgia special...

“They’re close to home, they were one of my first offers coming out of middle school to high school. They’ve been on me heavily early. They have their foot on the gas and haven't let up yet. They've been on me ever since they offered so I’m really impressed with them.”
