I didn't think it was time for him to go based on the season alone. However the season and losing all of his best players outside of Wheeler is tough. If KD leaves we might as well play in a high school region.

A loaded portal can't all be blamed on dissatisfaction with coaches. Lots of kids are getting bad advice or no advice. College athletic free agency is turning it all into a joke.

This. College football is bad enough. College basketball is going to be significantly worse.

I would have zero interest in being a college basketball coach under the current system.

That's what a lot is the metro Atlanta kids do before college. I've seen some kids play at 4 different high schools.

Crean is not going to be fired this year. However, next year is clearly on the table.

It is not that we are simply losing guys. That is natural and expected. When you can transfer without penalty, you can expect to see a lot of transfers. The rub on our situation is that Wheeler, Johnson, and Camara are the nucleus. You lose 2 of the 3 and there is no chance for improvement next year.

We have recruited poorly the last two years. We just had another mediocre year. It is not going to get any better. If Johnson leaves, Crean is toast.

If Wes Miller doesn't get the UNC job, we can go get him next year. We could also go hire Dawn Staley. It is worth a shot. If nothing else, it helps the women's team take a step forward.

Well that is very telling if that's the case. Miami is not exactly a step up in basketball. In fact it's a big step down. 4-15 in conference, 10-17 overall. Wow...

True, but he went to school in south FL. Maybe he just wants to get back there.

For next year we're going to roll out Wheeler and KD assuming either stays and a parade of mid major grad transfers. It's going to be a clown car.

Maybe Camara leaving is a sign Foster is coming.

my optimism was based on a young nucleus of camara, wheeler and KD.

I subsequently read online he initially ultimately chose UGA over Dayton. K St was involved too. So there's the connection. We can draw our own conclusions on the now why. It's just a bad look for Crean.
