On 28 July 2014 former UGA sprinter Torrin Lawrence (2010 NCAA Indoor 400m Champion) died after a tractor-trailer collided with his car. Fwiw, my favorite memory of him was in 2009 when as a freshman he anchored UGA's 4x400m indoor relay team to a come-from-behind victory by catching and blowing by Florida's Calvin Smith:
