Good info as usual AFD. What is it going to take, a few things. First of all, continued recruiting on the LOS. I believe our OL did a better job this year against Bama's DL than in the national title game, and I see that gap becoming larger in 2019. Our DL did a nice job of getting after Tua this time and our secondary and LB's also did a good job-Bama has beat us the last two times by bringing in a different style QB mid game, it is like our gameplan is solid to stop the starter but then all hell breaks loose when the different style player comes in. As for offense, it appears to me that Bama makes better adjustments at the half to stop our offense-in both games it just appears our execution and perhaps playcalling is not as good. We were converting on 3rd down at a solid rate in the first half, but the second half not good. Also a key this past game to me was the missed FG. That was about as much a chip shot as Hot Rod could have had, and he missed it. Granted, they scored 21 points from that point on, but a 17 point lead makes a big difference mentally-as you are 3 scores ahead. Also, the penalties that were not called both years are hard to overlook, and then of course the most boneheaded decision of maybe all time on the fake punt, all leads to the loss a few days ago.

We simply have to use that as a motivational tool to get over the hump, almost our entire roster will be back on 2019, that game needs to be the focus ALL season-FINISH, FINISH, FINISH. Talent is there, we just have to get that extra little punch that we need and we also need Kirby to not hurt his team with truly poor coaching decisions.

I won't beat the dead horse and say for KS to stop making stupid calls and shooting us in the foot with the likes of that fake FG thing. Truth is, we shouldn't have let them tie it up and it wouldn't have been so devestating.
Going forward...You guys said it best, but I say continued maturation of the LBs, and the pass rush and beef up the front seven. They played well and our LBs are young. Tindall slicing through there and sacking Tua is just a sign of things to come for this LB corp. The front seven just needs to get dominant and stop any late game come backs.
The O is fine....if they'll just figure out how to use Fields properly.

Those are great numbers, as always, AFD, and it shows that we are either becoming on par with Alabama, or we're already there. We've all seen the stats on how many of the last game minutes and/or downs played we've actually led Bama, so the truth is we are on par with them. It's not like anyone else is beating them. This year will be their 3rd National Championship in the last 4 years. The only losses they've had were to an Ole Miss team so talented it got their coach fired and program put on probation, to a National Championship Clemson team who still needed a WR pick play to score the winning points, and a fluke loss in arguably the most hotly contested rivalry in the country. Three losses in four years.

But without looking inside those numbers, I'd guess that despite us having more "star power" and Bama being younger, that Alabama's upper classes have more 4 & 5-star guys than we do. Every single one of their 2nd, 3rd, and 5th year players were members of a unanimous #1 recruiting class, and their 4th year players were a unanimous 2nd. I'd guess our star power leans more heavily to our Fr & So classes. Kirby is recruiting like gangbusters, but Bama has been doing it for a decade now. They just have a more established program. We are getting there.
