I believe that particular facemask call had been immediately preceded by the play where the Bama defender pushed Fromm's head down right in front of the ref. Those two non-calls alone, if called correctly, could've made a substantial difference in game.
You are absolutely right those two calls would have made a huge difference. The face mask on Swift was early in the 3rd qtr, about the 12:30 mark or so - it was our 2nd play after the botched blocked punt call. It brought up 3rd down and 21 at our own 25, where it should have been 1st & 10 at our 40. The rabbit punch to Fromm actually happened a couple possessions later - with just under 3 minutes left in the quarter. But it brought up 3rd & 6 from Bama's 39 (where Levi Wallace had an obvious uncalled PI on Ridley, btw), when it should have been 1st & 10 at Bama's 24. Both calls, the Alabama radio announcer (not Eli Gold, but the other guy) mentioned they got away with one. The Fromm one would have put us well into FG range, and the Swift one would have put us about 20~25 yards from FG range. If we get points on either one, it never goes to OT.
There were several other bad missed calls as well: About a minute left in the half, Bama's #14 Thompson had an obvious target on Sony, and the same player had an obvious target on Chubb on our first play after the kickoff where the Bama player #48 punched Walter Grant (and wasn't ejected). Both times he clearly led with the crown of his helmet. Then there was the false start when Bama went for it on 4th & goal from the 4 that wasn't called. No way Sabam goes for it from the 9.
