Well folks... The 1st game is almost here... I am super excited about this years offensive line... The Road Graders... They are massive and 4 of them have a season or 2 under their belt... When Kirby 1st came to Athens... He stated we must get Bigger, Faster, and Stronger... I don't know about faster with this line, but I do know they are much bigger and much stronger than the Richt years... We have a seasoned QB with a 5 star backup... We have a stable of very good running backs... I think this years group of receivers might be the best group we have ever had... This offense with Road Graders should be an offensive machine... There is no weak spot... The defenses we play will NOT be able to stack or crowd the box... This could be the best thing for the Dawgs as the defense will need to get playing time and game experience...

In closing let me say this... My 1st game was in 1978 against Tech... I am older than most of you... This is the most talent I have ever seen on a UGA team... The Dawgs are loaded and Kirby is bringing more talent in... I hope some of you will post your opinion about a certain part of the team... Go Dawgs...

I'm not really into hype videos, but fast forward to about the 3:45 mark of this video:

The people who think our defense doesn't return much, haven't really been paying attention.

Fwiw, I've been watching UGA Football since 1978 and the quality depth on the Dawgs' OL has never been better. Quite simply, OL Coach Sam Pittman has exceeded my expectations wrt his recruiting prowess. After a rough start all around in 2016, UGA greatly improved last season. A large part of that success can be attributed to the play of Pittman's OL.

IMO, Director of S&C Scott Sinclair has also proven to have been a great hire. That's a critical area that the Dawgs neglected for more than a decade (ref. Randy Cross' comments about UGA in November 2009).

UGA is now set up well for the foreseeable future at every position. Rather than being a blip on the radar, I think the Dawgs are tracking on the glideslope of success. In the Pitt Boss's own words, Yessssss Sirrrrrrr!!!

My first game in attendance was 1971, also against Tech. Kent Lawrence scored late to give us the W.

This is by far the most talented UGA team I've ever seen, it isn't close. That doesn't mean best necessarily, but they have the makings to be that as well. A lot of closer games come down to a break going your way, or not, at the right/wrong time.

The Auburn game last year on the Plains is an example, after a nice opening drive TD, every 3rd down seemed to end up 2 yards short. Every break went the wrong way. Auburn would be 3rd and 4 and get 4.5.

Turnovers, punts, FGs, the criticality of punts inside the 20, etc., all are somewhat random.

If they happen to bounce against you, a team can beat a better team. You need those breaks like we had in 1980 is run the slate. The Gators worry me, they may be finding an offense.

If we had last year's LB corp this team would be maybe the best we've ever had IMO. The secondary needs to step up their game a bit, but other than that, we'll know after game 2 against the Cocks whether or not we've successfully replaced Carter, RS and Bellamy. Smith and Carter was the kind of players that could just take over a game almost single-handedly. I think Walker is an unsung hero from last year. The other LBs (Patrick, Rice, Grant, Beal, etc....) they ooze talent, but they're gonna have to step up and grow up quick and turn it into production on the field. A loss at SC would not be death nail for the season, but it would certainly be a gargantuan set back this early in the season and have the other East teams licking their chops, especially UT and UF after the bullwhippings we put on them last season.
