So, I've got family members that are Tech and Auburn fans, church members that are Tide fans and one or two uh..'close friends' that are UT and Gator fans'. And, now that last season is becoming more of more 'ancient history' some are having the audacity to tell me that we were a 'OHW'! Despite the fact that we prison-raped Tech, UF and UT by a combined score of a hundred and something to 14 and then moped the floor with Auburn in the SECCG. And even my Tide friends admitted a while back that their victory over us was ref-aided. Noooooow everyone seems to want to change their stories and say that we are going back to reality this season...mainly because Chubb and Michel and Roquan Smith are in the pros...blah, blah, blah....
So, I need some help here fellow Dawg fans; Give me something here to combat all of these so-called friends of mine during this lazy, hot and humid 4th of July week of 'off-season' blues; How can we let all of these goofballs know, the Beast from the East truly has awoken and we ain't goin anywhere!!

When folks say stuff like this to me, I just say they may be correct, and smile.

I don't really care what folks say of this ilk. They are trying to get under one's skin, not provide any reasoned perspective.

The Dawgs either will have a very good to great season, or they won't, I think "very good" is nearly assured though. Imagine they drop back to 10-2 and win a bowl game, still a top ten finish.

Imagine they go 11-1 and lose in the CG and lose the bowl game - disappointing to be sure, but still 11-3 and not exactly a bust.

Maybe the Tech fans can spend more time worrying about their own moronic "offense" and lame defense.

The two most important parts to a college team, aside from coaching, are:

1. An experienced and very good offensive line, and
2. An experienced and very good QB.

Very few teams return both. The top tier programs can largely reload even with some inexperience, but going out there with an inexperienced QB is always an adventure.

UGA will have a talented defense with some holes to fill, and they will fill them.

Yeah, we ain't gonna have nothing.

i wouldn't tell them anything, i'd just find some new friends. you don't want to be associated with those. it is making you look bad. don't be afraid to reinvent yourself a few times in life.

Well, for your Aub, gtu, & ufk fans, you can tell them that "one-hit wonder" has beaten them 4 of the last 5 and 10 of the last 13 (Aub), or 7 of the last 9 (gtu), or 6 of the last 8 (ufk). All with a heavy dose of beatdowns. We have beaten Fla 4 of the last 7. And while Bama has had the better of us - just like they've had vs pretty much everyone - they've needed some divine intervention of the highest magnitude in the last two to have kept us from winning 5 of the last 6.

Reddawg...that is about as good as it can be said!

True dat - those folks are crazy.

And speaking of the West, I'm not sold on the foregone conclusion that A&M is immediately going to be a contender because of Jimbo. He may very well elevate the program, but it will likely take some time. We'll know a whole lot about how they'll do this season in week 2 vs Clemson. And while I'd like to see A&M pull the upset, Clemson is going to boat race them, and Jimbo's honeymoon will officially be over.

And Mississippi State? Joe who? People think he's going to turn a perennial 4~5 loss team into a contender right away? LOL!

Darin, I think most fans are saying this because they are HOPING it is true. Heck, we were all probably saying that about Clemson after they played for a title the first time-I know I was probably guilty of it, and especially guilty after they lost Watson-I would have NEVER thought they would make the playoff last year, and then they lost to Cuse on top of it. Everyone has accepted Bama is always going to compete for a title because well, they always do. But we are the new kid and everyone is hoping we are a flash, but those that actually know what they are talking about will admit UGA is going to be the mix because of the talent base we have accumulated-and stability in the coaching staff. As someone else mentioned, typically when teams have a returning QB alone that had the success ours did last year, that allows you to sustain success. We have a returning QB and one waiting in the wings that might be better than the starter. We also have a LOT of returning depth, despite what many rivals believe due to our heavy SR class from last year-we all admit we lost a lot, but we also return a lot, and because we played in so many blowouts, all our players got to play a lot last year. Add to that the #1 recruiting class coming in for this season, lot of reasons to believe we will not be a one hit wonder. With our schedule for this year, 11-1 should be the low in the regular season, next year we likely will be even better.
