ATHENS - After signing a terrific defensive back class in the 2026 cycle, Kirby Smart is once again looking to add more elite defenders in the secondary.
The Dawgs hosted several of the country’s top defensive backs in January with many of them already putting a Georgia official visit on the schedule.
Georgia’s highest-ranked defensive commitment at the moment is elite cornerback, Donte Wright. The lengthy, sure-tackling defensive back plays at Long Beach Poly (CA) and is ranked as the No. 38 overall prospect in the country.
The 6-foot-2 175-pounder committed to Georgia last June and is still publicly committed to play in Athens. However, several West Coast schools including Oregon and USC are doing their best to flip the playmaking cornerback
After a January visit to Athens, Wright announced recently that he’ll be back for his big official visit the weekend of May 31st.

Another defensive back to keep a close eye on it Alabama native and four-star safety, Jayden Aparicio-Bailey. One of the highest defenders on Georgia’s recruiting board, the Prattville (AL) standout is a priority for the Georgia staff who was in Athens earlier this year. Now, he’ll be back in town for a big official visit the weekend of June 5th.
A rangy, sure-tackling safety who made play after play on both sides of the ball last season, the 6-foot-2 180-pound safety thinks highly of coach Smart and the Bulldog program
“Coach Kirby Smart is super loved by my family”, Aparicio-Bailey told Dawg Post. “He’s a good person off the field but will also get on you on the field to help your development!! UGA is the standard and that’s what makes them special!!”
As a junior last season at Oak Mountain, Aparicio-Bailey made 40 tackles and four INTs.
Another safety prospect to know about is four-star Tavares Harrington. One of the top prospects In Chicago, Harrington is a big 6-foot-3 180-pound defensive back who also plans on being in Athens for an official visit the weekend of June 5th.
Ranked as the No. 12 safety and the No. 122 overall prospect, Harrington is fresh off an impressive junior season where he made 50 tackles, six TFLs, three INTs, and nine more pass-breakups to go along with one blocked field goal on special teams.
