ATHENS - Chidera Uzo-Diribe is expected to leave Kirby Smart’s UGA Football program to join the Dallas Cowboys according to numerous reports.
Uzo-Diribe is set to join former UGA football offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer in Dallas. Schottenheimer’s time at UGA, only the 2015 season, was tumultuous as the Bulldogs struggled to score.
Kirby Smart was hired shortly after Schottenheimer left Athens after Mark Richt’s tenure was up. Kirby hired Uzo-Diribe for the 2022 season, where the Bulldogs completed an undefeated season and capped their second national title in as many years.
Uzo-Diribe, a native of Corona, Calif., came to Athens after serving as defensive line coach with SMU in 2021. He followed head coach Sonny Dykes to TCU after the 2021 season before accepting the position at UGA. SMU was 8-4 in 2021 and defensive lineman Elijah Chatman earned All-American Conference second-team honors. Uzo-Diribe also coached defensive lineman DeVere Levelston who led the conference in sacks.
Uzo-Diribe was a four-year letterman at Colorado.
