ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart has landed the final piece of his coaching puzzle heading into 2022.

Former TCU assistant Chidera Uzo-Diribe is expected to be named the Dawgs’ outside linebackers coach according to college football reporter Bruce Feldman. At 29, Uzo-Diribe would be the youngest coach on the Bulldogs’ staff. He just coached the 2021 season at SMU before leaving for TCU.

Before that, the young coach was with the Kansas Jayhawks for two years as the outside linebackers coach. According to his bio, Uzo-Diribe spent three seasons (2016-18) as a graduate assistant with the defensive line and outside linebackers at Colorado. Uzo-Diribe spent the 2016 season with Mustang Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt.

Feldman adds: “Lots of folks in the coaching world see Chidera Uzo-Diribe as a rising star in the biz and expect him to do really well for Kirby Smart and UGA. Has impressed coaches dating back to his days as a young GA at (Colorado). Sharp guy with no ego and has good people skills.”

Georgia’s previous outside linebackers coach was defensive coordinator Dan Lanning, who was hired by the Oregon Ducks in December.

Smart also has co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann on the staff, who happens to be one of the best talent evaluators, recruiters, and overall developers across the country. Former South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp is another defensive mind who has been extremely helpful as an analyst and on the recruiting trail.
