ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have hit the jackpot.
After hosting five-star running back Kemon Spell over the weekend, Josh Crawford and the Dawgs have landed his commitment.
Ranked as the No. 1 RB prospect and the No. 3 overall prospect in the country, Spell is a former Penn State commitment from Pennsylvania who decided to make a verbal pledge today to the Bulldogs.
After signing just one running back in each of the last two recruiting cycles, Crawford knew he had to land two outstanding backs in the current 2027 cycle.
The Dawgs already had a commitment from three-star Noah Parker, and today they’ve landed the big prize in Spell.

According to FanDuel, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has +550 to win Super Bowl MVP this weekend.
What will Spell bring to Athens?
Just about everything.
Size. Speed. Balance. Power. Elusiveness. All of it. At 5-foot-10 210-pounds, Spell brings plenty of size and knows how to power his way through defenders. He brings terrific balance and has a knack for consistently staying on his feet after first contact. He’s tough to bring to the ground as he does a great job of running behind his pads when meeting defenders.
However, Spell also knows how to run. On tape he looks like he’s playing 20 pounds lighter. He can make defenders miss in the open field and has no problem taking off down the field. He can score anytime he has the ball and is good for several jaw-dropping runs a week.
He’s the total package, and now he’s heading to Athens.
As a junior in 2025, Spell ran for 1,755 yards and 28 touchdowns while missing five games. He also helped as a receiver out of the backfield and on special teams.
