ATHENS - The month of January is always an important time for Georgia Bulldog recruiting.

Kirby Smart and his staff are all over the country searching for some top talent to sign in the 2027 class and beyond.

However, there’s always home-grown talent to choose from. Offers are flying out of Athens right now and Dawg Post had the latest on several in-state prospects who recently added an offer from the Dawgs...

A new in-state wide receiver to know about is Harrison (GA) pass-catcher, DJ Huggins. The Kennesaw, Georgia native stands at 5-foot-11 180-pounds and brings a shifty, explosive skillset to the wide receiver position. A crafty route-runner who can create separations and fly up the field, Huggins is fresh off an outstanding junior season where he caught 67 passes for 1,127 yards and 12 touchdowns.

“I was definitely excited about the offer and I know they win a lot of games”, Huggins told Dawg Post.

According to FanDuel, the Houston Texans have +230 odds of winning the AFC Championship.

A Gwinnett County defensive back who recently offered was Hebron Christian (GA) standout, Jai’lil Goley. A ballhawk in the secondary, Goley is a playmaking cornerback with natural instincts in coverage. He consistently finds the football and showed terrific ball skills all season long. The 6-foot-1 175-pounder made 31 tackles and picked off six passes in coverage last season as a junior. He also broke up 14 passes and played a major role in Hebron Christian’s state championship. Now, he holds an offer from Georgia.

“When I got the call the emotions were at an all time high, every kid dreams of getting those big time offers but for it to really happen is just a great experience. I do know that their program produces some phenomenal talent across the board.”

A South Georgia playmaker who earned an offer from Georgia during a visit on Friday is Valdosta (GA) star Marquis Fennell. The electric playmaker is a natural athlete with outstanding burst, elusiveness, vision, and big-play ability. The speedy 5-foot-10 180-pounder lit up the stat sheet this season on his way to earning 6A Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Fennell ran for 1,480 yards last season with 23 touchdowns, averaging 8.2 yards per carry. He also caught 53 passes out of the backfield for another 764 yards and 10 more touchdowns. A special teams weapon as well, Fennell totaled over 260 return yards during his 2025 junior season. He’s a dynamic, versatile prospect on the rise who should see his recruitment really take off soon.

“I couldn’t stop smiling after the Georgia offer”, Fennell told Dawg Post. “I know they love to get their slot guys the ball in space and let them do what they do. That’s what I excel at.”

A Middle Georgia offensive line target to know moving forward is Northside (GA) left tackle, Jeremiah Rozier. Just a sophomore last season, the Warner Robins native was terrific on the left side all year long, using his lean 6-foot-3 275-pound frame to his advantage. He’s a mauler in the run game who moves well and showcases above-average athleticism. He’s got a high ceiling and really shined last year as a sophomore. His recruitment is picking up and he’s now earned an offer from the Dawgs.
