ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs got some bad news on Monday afternoon.
Starting left tackle Monroe Freeling, one of the best players on Georgia’s roster, has announced that he will skip his senior season and enter April’s NFL Draft.
Freeling, who played better and better as the season went along, appeared in all 13 games during the season, making 12 starts. The big 6-foot-7 315-pounder from South Carolina was an SEC Coaches All-SEC Second Team selection this past season as a junior. He helped lead the Bulldog offense to 31.9 points per game, 186.6 rushing yards per game and 220.3 passing yards per game.
Now, the Bulldogs are in search for next season’s left tackle. The offensive line took a big step forward in 2025 and Freeling is a big reason why. He won’t be easy to replace, and many NFL insiders believe Freeling could be a possible first-round pick after a strong third season in Athens.
