ATHENS - UGA Football announced Wednesday that the program will “Stripe Sanford” for the game against the Oklahoma Sooners on September 26th.
It happened organically last year as fans called on ticketholders to “Stripe Sanford” a season ago against Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss. After a wild fourth quarter, Georgia won over the No. 5 Rebels.
Unbeknownst to players and fans alike, former coach Mark Richt had ordered special black jerseys from Nike in the spring of 2007. That set up well for Richt, who called for a so-called Blackout against Auburn in 2007.
UGA football announced earlier this season that the program will wear all white next Saturday against WKU. That will be the first time in modern history that UGA has ever worn white helmets in a game. The white uniforms have been used in recruiting photoshoots for years by Kirby and his staff.
