NEW ORLEANS, LA - Georgia’s potentially special season has inexplicably come to an end.

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs got out-coached and out-played by Pete Golding and the Ole Miss Rebels.

The Dawgs fought hard and certainly had their chances to win, but in the end, they simply could not score with Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels.

The Ole Miss quarterback played a near perfect game and completely torched the Bulldog defense in the fourth quarter. He was the best player on the field and made several jaw-dropping plays down the stretch to lead Ole Miss to victory. He ended the game with 362 passing yards and two touchdowns along with one epic deep-ball on their final drive to set up the game-winning field goal.

That’s how Ole Miss won, by the way. A game-winning field goal with six seconds left. That’s how Georgia’s season ended.

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, the Indiana Hoosiers have +130 odds to win the national championship this season.

This was a complete team loss from top to bottom. It starts with Kirby Smart and trickles on down. The offense didn’t get the job done and the defense gave up 20 points in the 4th quarter. They lost the running game, they lost special teams, and they simply didn’t deserve to win.

Ole Miss played better than Georgia did. Their quarterback made more plays, they made more stops defensively, and their kicker came in clutch all game long.

Georgia didn’t blow this game. They played hard and lost. Ole Miss made the plays needed to win and Georgia didn’t. That’s what happened.

But it’s still unacceptable. That staff and those players should’ve beat this Ole Miss team. No excuses. They came up short, and for the second consecutive season, see their dreams die in New Orleans.

The Dawgs had a golden opportunity to do something special but couldn’t get the job done. They didn’t have to play perfect, but they certainly needed to play better than that.

A season full of promise wasn’t supposed to end this way. This year was supposed to be different. It felt like they had everything they needed, but in the end, their flaws stood out on the biggest stage.

They were not cohesive enough on offense. They didn’t dominate in the trenches. Stockton, who played like a warrior, didn’t make enough plays with his arm and couldn’t find any rhythm on the ground.

Defensively, while they did make stops early and score on scoop and score from Daylen Everette, they simply didn’t make enough plays down the stretch. They didn’t play sound in the back end, couldn’t corral Chambliss outside of the pocket, and gave up over 100 yards and two scores on the ground.

And again, give Ole Miss a lot of credit. They fought through adversity. They gave up a double-digit 4th quarter lead and didn’t flinch. They fought back and found a way to get the job done.

That’s something we said all season long about the Georgia Bulldogs, but we can’t say it about them tonight.

This is a bad, bad loss for Kirby Smart and the program. No other way around it. Tip your hat to the Rebels, but this one’s going to sting pretty bad for nine long months.

Once again, the Dawgs fall short in New Orleans.
