ATHENS - It was a good day to be a recruit during Georgia’s 35-14 win over Kentucky over the weekend.
The Dawgs had some fast-rising prospects from all over the state in town and many left Athens with an offer from the No. 10 team in the country.
Here’s a list of in-state prospects who earned a Georgia offer this weekend...
2029 QB CJ Cypher - Carrollton
The next great Trojan quarterback, Cypher is having a tremendous freshman season right now and is doing it at one of the best programs across the state. The talented passer has thrown for 1,202 yards and 14 touchdowns with just one INT. The 6-foot-2 190-pounder was in Athens over the weekend and left with a big offer from the Dawgs.
“When I received the UGA offer I was more than excited. Georgia has always been a big school to me so this means a lot. Some things I knew about Georgia going into the visit was that they are a big SEC school that recruit the best of the best. So given that, this means a lot to me.”
Look for Cypher to be one of the state’s top prospects in the 2029 class with five-star potential down the road.
DON”T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!
According to FanDuel, Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton has +2700 odds to win the Heisman Trophy this season.
2028 DB Tyler Boyd - Carrollton
Another talented young prospect at Carrollton, Boyd is a natural playmaker who makes a big impact both on defense and on special teams. He brings a lengthy 5-foot-11 180-pound frame, he plays hard, can be physical with receivers, and knows how to tackle. Just a sophomore, Boyd is holding his own every week and has been one of the most impactful defenders on a talented Carrollton defense. The young West Georgia athlete had a lot to say after leaving Athens with a big offer.
“I was excited when I got the Georgia offer. Georgia’s a big-time program so this means a lot to know they see potential in me this early. I know Georgia is known to have a strong culture built on hard work, competition and winning.”
2027 DL Marcellus Young Casario - Rabun Gap
Way up in the North Georgia mountains is where you’ll find one of the state’s fastest-rising defensive line prospects. The big 6-foot-6 260-pounder fires off the snap and has been a consistent force in the backfield through the first half of his junior season. He’s a promising pass-rusher who already held offers from Miami, Maryland and Wake Forest. Now, this impressive junior has earned an offer from the in-state Georgia Bulldogs. He’s only made 14 tackles on the season, but he’s made all of them count with half of them coming behind the line of scrimmage. He’s a 2027 in-state target to keep an eye on moving forward.
“Over the past few months I’ve been building a good relationship with reverting coordinator Cole Shannon, so going to the game I had a good feeling. When I got there I was greeted with great hospitality by everyone before I met coach Tray Scott. He said he loves the way I play, my size is unteachable, and someone with my size shouldn’t be able to move like how I do! He said he sees me as a threat in a wide 9,7,5,4i,3 pretty much anywhere on the line. It was awesome. When he gave the offer, it felt like a step in the right direction for my future. Since I was a kid it was my dream to play SEC ball, and Georgia is at the top of the SEC consistently. It truly felt like a blessing and I was very grateful!”
“I know Georgia’s program is no joke under coach Kirby Smart. The school I’m at now (Rabun Gap) has been doing a good job preparing me for the next level grind that college is. When I look at the defensive line specifically, I like how the players are physical and right away I noticed they play ferocious. They had dominate gap control which held Kentuckys run game to a minimum and is a testament to the way Georgia plays football.”
2027 OT Timi Aliu - Locust Grove
A big, physical offensive tackle on the rise at Locust Grove, Aliu brings a promising 6-foot-5 290-pound frame, strong hands, impressive mobility, and a really high ceiling. He’s been a pancake machine this season and has his best football way ahead of him. He’s also earned recent offers from Georgia Tech, Auburn, Pittsburgh, Illinois, Syracuse, Kansas State, Cincinnati, and now Georgia. Look for other programs to jump on board sooner than later.
“When I got the UGA offer I reacted with a huge burst of excitement because of what they have accomplished in just the past 5 years and how many people they have put in the NFL. It’s all a blessing. I know the standards, expectations, and the brotherhood there. I saw all of it go into play when I was there for the visit and it was all so amazing to see. I learned a lot from it.”
