ATHENS - Georgia’s offense struggled and failed to put the ball into the endzone against Austin Peay at the end of the first half, and the final play may have been detrimental to the team.
True freshman Ethan Barbour suffered an apparent lower leg injury on the last play of the second quarter, when Georgia was trying to run the football inside of the five-yard line. Kirby Smart and the staff immediately ran out to check on him, his foot/ankle was placed into a cast and he was carted off the field into the locker room area.
Barbour started the game and has been playing a hybrid tight end/full back role, particularly in the run game. The 4-star freshman from Milton, Georgia carved out a role to begin the season, and that looks like it could be on hold for a while.
Georgia is currently in a lightning delay at halftime and holds a 14-3 lead over the Governors. The game kicked off at 2:30 PM EST instead of 3:30 with anticipation that that weather would affect the game.
