ATHENS - It’s hard to find a tight ends coach in college football better than Georgia Bulldog assistant Todd Hartley.
Nobody recruts and develops tight ends the way coach Hartley does. The guy does not miss on the recruiting trail and has three current commitments in the 2026 class.
Now, Hartley is looking for his guys in the 2027 class. He landed Milton Eagles star Ethan Barbour in the 2025 class and is now recruiting their newest star tight end, Grant Haviland.
The big 6-foot-5 230-pounder is bound for a giant junior season this fall and already holds offers from some of the best programs in the country.
The Bulldogs offered back in February and Haviland told Dawg Post that he’s already established a bond with Georgia’s ace recruiter.

According to FanDuel, the Baltimore Ravens have +650 odds to win the Super Bowl next season.
“I was up in Athens for a Jr. Day visit in February when I earned my offer”, Haviland told Dawg Post. “My relationship with coach Hartley is great. I was there for the scavenger hunt weekend in May and got to spend a lot of time with Coach Hartley, allowing me to get to know him as a person and learn what type of players he likes to coach. It was good to spend four hours with him that day.”
“He thinks I fit the Georgia culture with my mindset and he sold me on how he develops tight ends and puts them in the league”, Haviland added. “He thinks I fit their system well and has coached a lot of tight ends over the years with my skillset.”
As a sophomore last season, Haviland saw plenty of action but didn’t have to be a major weapon in the passing game. However, this year should be different. He’s a mismatch in the middle of the field with strong hands, impressive ball-skills, and the potential to light up the stat sheet this fall as a junior. He’s one of the very best tight end prospects in the state and someone Georgia fans need to keep a close eye on in the 2027 class.
As for upcoming visits, Haviland will be busy this fall checking out some of the biggest games of the 2025 season.
“I’ll be visiting for the LSU/Clemson game, the Alabama/Georgia game, the Florida/LSU game and the Washington/Michigan game.”
Haviland’s stock is soaring on the recruiting trail as he’s added recent offers from Clemson, North Carolina, LSU and Colorado.
His best football is way ahead of him and he’ll hope to lead the Eagles to a third-consecutive state championship this fall.
Haviland is ranked as the No. 15 TE prospect and the No. 220 overall prospect in the country for his class.
