ATHENS - It’s safe to say expectations are sky-high for new Georgia Bulldog transfer Elo Modozie.

The Dawgs went into the spring transfer portal in hopes of landing another pass-rusher and got exactly what they were looking for.

The 6-foot-3 245-pounder led the Army Black Knights last year with 6.5 sacks and will bring more explosiveness and big-play ability to Georgia’s outside linebacker room.

Since he wasn’t around this spring, it was easy for Georgia fans to overlook his signing in late April. But if you ask Kirby Smart, he’ll tell you that Modozie is someone Bulldog fans need to be really excited about his fall.

“People are going to know that name before the year is over, and I’m sure he’s going to get people to pronounce it the right way,” Smart said in an interview on the SEC Network. “He’s a tremendous kid, he’s a hard worker, really good athlete, and we’re looking forward to watching him flourish in this system.”

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, the New York Knicks have +800 odds to win the 2026 NBA Finals next summer.

Not only did Modozie find his way to West Point, but he thrived there. He’s a hard-working young man with terrific leadership traits and the potential to make a big impact on the gridiron this fall for the reigning SEC champions.

The Georgia staff didn’t bring Modozie in to sit on the bench. He’s coming to play, and SEC analyst Cole Cubilic is expecting a massive season for the new defender.

“I think (he) has the ability, if he can add eight to 12 pounds before he enters the season, to be as dominant of an edge defender as there is in this league,” Cubelic said on his podcast Cube Show. “And trust me, we’re about to get to some real edge guys in the next two groups. He has that kind of twitch, that kind of motor, that kind of ability, that kind of just get off and want to is anybody I’ve seen in the nation, that kid’s got it.”

Yes, veteran Gabe Harris will have a chance to shine as well. He’s a defender on the rise who can really get after the quarterback. Second-year defender Quintavious Johnson is also ready to make a name for himself this fall. Linebacker Kris Jones is hoping to make an impact as well. Then there’s the three incredibly talented incoming freshmen.

It’s a talented room, but it’s clear Smart is excited about what Modozie brings to the table. There’s always room for another pass-rusher and the Dawgs are hoping someone can step up and consistently attack the quarterback this fall. Modozie has a chance to play that role and give the Bulldog defense something they desperately need.
