ATHENS - After signing just one back in the 2025 class in three-star Bo Walker, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are hoping to sign two of the very best in the current 2026 class.

The Bulldogs are towards the top for several elite backs including five-star Savion Hiter‍, four-star Derrek Cooper‍, four-star Jae Lamar‍, among others.

Even though none are on the commit list, the Georgia staff is still keeping an eye on 2027 targets. They had two of them on campus last weekend for their annual “Scavenger Hunt” weekend and both recapped their visit with Dawg Post.

One big-time running back in town was Baylor School (TN) standout, David Gabriel Georges‍. Ranked as the No. 2 running back prospect in the 2027 class, Georges is an elite runner at 6-foot-0 205-pounds who has been to Athens multiple times now since early early April. He holds offers from just about every major program in the country and someone the Bulldogs are already pushing hard for.

“The Georgia visit was great,” Georges told Dawg Post. “It allowed me to view the campus. The scavenger hunt allowed me to learn more about the school as a whole. We had to find places and answer questions about specific items that are part of the school history and culture. It was very insightful.”

“Georgia's pitch is that they want me, simple as that,” Georges added. “They've been consistent with me and my family.”

Georges is ranked as the No. 34 overall prospect in the country for his class.

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, the Minnesota Timberwolves are 7.5-point underdogs against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game Two of the NBA Western Conference Finals.

Another impressive back in town last weekend was four-star Jerry Andrew Beard II‍. A local running back at Prince Avenue Christian, Beards is a speedy back with quick feet, impressive change of direction, and natural big-play ability. Beard has held a Bulldog offer for quite a while now and is easily one of the top overall running backs in Georgia. The promising back made the quick drive over to Athens and had a lot to say about it.

“I saw how family-oriented UGA was,” Bears said. “Off the field everybody is just so close not only on the coaching staff but everybody in the building. Their pitch to me is staying close to home. I stay about 15 minutes from Athens and being able to stay close to family would be amazing.”

As a sophomore last season, the 5-foot-9 190-pounder rushed for just under 2,000 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also made plays out of the backfield, catching 32 passes for 525 yards and five more scores. He was a threat to score anytime he had the ball and is bound for an even bigger junior season for the Wolverines in 2025.

Beard is ranked as the No. 12 RB prospect and No. 138 overall prospect in the 2027 class.
