ATHENS - As we reported last week, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs had several major prospects in town for an official visit over the weekend.

The biggest was 5-star OL Darius Gray‍. Ranked as the No. 1 interior guard prospect in the country, Gray has held an offer from the Bulldogs for almost two years now and was in Athens this past weekend for his big official visit.

Gray made sure to speak with Dawg Post to talk about what he learned.

“I was able to learn more in depth of the program and the plan that they have for there guys. Their pitch to me is why not come somewhere where the risk of making it to the NFL is minimized and a lesser risk because of the constant proof and people they have sent to the pros! They are recruiting me to play tackle and my relationship with coach Searels has grown tremendously over the last two years.”

Georgia offered Gray in the summer of 2023 and have stayed on him throughout the process. This official visit was a big deal and sources say it went extremely well behind the scenes. Gray likes the thought of playing tackle, and while he may not have the ideal frame to play there, Georgia giving him an opportunity to play the tackle position should help them stay in the race the entire way.

On film, Gray shows impressive mobility, footwork, and natural strength. He’s dominant in the run game who plays with good leverage and shows outstanding lower-body strength. He’s a good athlete for his size and plays with a mean streak. It’s easy to see why he’s a five-star prospect and he’s someone Georgia fans should keep a close eye on moving forward.

Gray also has official visits set up to Auburn, Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, and South Carolina.

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, the Atlanta Braves are 1.5-point favorites to beat the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.

Another impressive lineman in town last weekend was defensive tackle, Preston Carey‍.

The four-star out of IMG Academy (FL) is a strong 6-foot-5 300-pound interior lineman with long arms, big hands, and the ability to take on double teams in the trenches. A New York native, Carey has shined at IMG Academy and holds 40+ D1 offers. He’s big, powerful, and someone sources say the Georgia staff is high on.

Here’s what Carey had to say after his official visit...

“I learned a lot! The environment in Athens for the official visit was elite! The biggest takeaways about Georgia is that for the past five years they have been the best at developing first round talent on the defensive line. The culture is also very different at Georgia than any other college in America. You have to buy into the ‘want’ to be elite at Georgia. They produce talent all the time because the people that go there buy into the developmental piece Georgia has. Their pitch to me was that all defensive lineman who come to Georgia all have the same thing in common. They want to win and be around elite players and they want to be developed by a Coach that is the best in the country the past 5 years at developing first round talent at DL!”

Carey is ranked as the No. 29 DL prospect and the No. 291 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class.
