ATHENS - After signing five impressive defensive backs in Georgia’s 2025 class, Kirby Smart and the Dawgs have one of the state’s best already on the commit list for the current 2026 cycle.

That would be four-star cornerback, Jontavius Wyman‍.

A two-way playmaker out of Jonesboro (GA), Wyman quickly became one of the state’s top defensive backs two years ago as a sophomore where he picked off five passes in coverage in addition to catching 37 passes on offense for 602 yards and seven touchdowns. He also played some quarterback and running back during his sensational sophomore season.

His numbers took a dip last season defensively as quarterbacks did everything they could not to throw his way. Still, Wyman was able to make 32 tackles with two INTs and one forced fumble. On offense, the 6-foot-0 175-pounder caught 34 passes last fall as junior for 506 yards and seven touchdowns along with another punt return for a touchdown.

According to FanDuel, the Atlanta Falcons have +5500 odds to win the Super Bowl next season.

Overall, Wyman’s athleticism is easy to see on film. He’s not the biggest guy, but he moves at a different level than everyone else. He’s quick, twitchy, and shows outstanding ball skills when the ball is in the air. Defensively, he shows quick change of direction and smooth hips that allow him to turn and run with receivers down the field. He closes well and turns into a receiver when the ball is in the air. He shows natural instincts, reading the quarterback and consistently putting himself in a position to make a play. He’s also a strong run defender who can wrap up properly and make a tackle in the open field.

He’s a natural playmaker with a nose for the football. He’s shown it time and time over the years at Jonesboro and a it’s a big reason why the Georgia staff identified him early, pushed for a commitment, and then landed his commitment back on July 27th. He’s been on the commit list for almost seven months now, and seems to be solid in his commitment, but this week Wyman announced that he’ll be taking official visits to Miami (May 30th), Nebraska (June 6th), and USC (June 13th) before taking his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 20th.

Wyman was back in Athens in late January and recapped that visit with Dawg Post.

“I learned that there’s a lot to just calling a school home! Georgia has always been home to me and place I wanted to be at! Me being up there more and more , they continue to show me time after time that I belong there! The message from the coaches was that I’m still a top priority and I’m very important to the program!”

Wyman is currently ranked as the No. 14 CB prospect and the No. 157 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class.
