ATHENS - Georgia-Florida is headed to Atlanta and Tampa.

The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reported Wednesday that UGA Football’s annual rivalry with the Florida Gators would be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in 2026, and would be played in 2027 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

The news is not surprising and was considered the most likely path for the rivalry as the Jacksonville Jaguars rebuild EverBank Stadium during that time. The rivalry is set to return to Jacksonville after the two-year pause away from its traditional home.

This is not the first time the two programs had to leave Jacksonville for a two-year stint. In 1994 and 1995, the Dawgs and Gators played games on campus. Insiders said that move was all but dead in the water this time.

The two have never played in Atlanta, but have faced off in Tampa once before landing in Jacksonville for good in 1926. An official announcement from the two school and the City of Jacksonville is expected soon.

No. 2 Georgia faces the Gators this weekend at EverBank Stadium. The Dawgs are considered heavy favorites to win the game. ABC will broadcast the game it is traditional 3:30 time slot
