BREAKING: Kirby Smart Addresses Rara Thomas Arrest

ATHENS - UGA Football coach Kirby Smart said Thursday that Rara Thomas was no longer with the Bulldogs. 

“Let him know he can no longer be a part of the football team,” Kirby said of a meeting he had on Tuesday with Thomas.

Georgia is set to open the 2024 season in 30 days against Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers. Thomas was arrested last Friday morning on three charges - one being second degree felony cruelty to children. 

A UGA source told Dawg Post Friday afternoon that Thomas had been suspended indefinitely. UGA Executive Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications Steven Drummond said in a statement issued to Dawg Post Friday morning: “This is a pending legal matter. We will have no further comment at this point.”

Thursday was the first day Kirby met with reporters since the arrest.
