ATHENS - June visits turn into July commitments for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.
It happens every year.
After hosting top targets on official visits throughout the month of June, Smart and his staff consistently land major commits on the recruiting trail in July. Of course, the summer of 2024 will be no different.
Which top targets have already set a commitment date? Dawg Post takes a look...
July 4th:
4-star WR Jayvan Boggs
A former Ohio State commitment and one of the top prospects in Florida, Boggs recently included Georgia in his ”Top 4” along with USC, Missouri, and Central Florida. Right now, it looks like Boggs is a “Plan C” option at receiver, but if he does have the green light to jump on board, Boggs could absolutely pick Georgia on the 4th of July considering what we’re hearing at the moment. The 6-foot-2 200-pounder caught 93 passes for over 1,500 yards and 24 TDs. The Cocoa (FL) pass-catcher is ranked as the No. 26 WR prospect and the No. 210 overall prospect. He’ll take his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 14th.

According to FanDuel, the Kansas Jayhawks have +1000 odds to win the NCAA Basketball Championship during the 2024/2025 season.
July 5th
5-star Zayden Walker
An elite defender and one of the top linebacker prospects across the country, Walker is no stranger to Athens and has been in town as a prospect multiple times over the last two years, including a visit this past weekend for Georgia’s big “scavenger hunt” weekend. He’ll be back in town for his official visit the weekend of May 31st where defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann will try to lock down his commitment.
South Carolina is a serious player in his recruitment, and sources say Florida State is still in the mix as well, but this second, Dawg Post continues to feel the Georgia Bulldogs continue to be the team to beat for the outstanding Schley County (GA) product.
The 6-foot-2 225-pounder made 40 tackles, 17 TFLs, 7 sacks, two forced fumbles and two recoveries last year. He’s ranked as the No. 19 overall prospect in the country for the 2025 class.
July 13th
4-star WR Travis Smith Jr.
A top wide receiver target for James Coley and the Dawgs, Smuth Jr. is an outstanding pass-catcher out of Westlake High School in Atlanta who caught 53 passes last fall for 892 yards and 11 touchdowns. He shows impressive ball skills, body control, and has a promising 6-foot-4 200-pound frame. He plucks the ball out of the air with ease and has always been high on Georgia.
Smith Jr was in Athens back in April for G-Day, this past weekend for the annual scavenger hunt, and will be back for his official visit the weekend of May 31st.
We’ve reported for months that this will likely come down to Georgia and Tennessee with the in-state Bulldogs being tough to beat. We still feel that way today and would be surprised if this four-star receiver did not pick Georgia on July 13th.
July 15th
4-star LB Tavion Wallace
A South Georgia linebacker with toughness, instincts, and one of the surest tacklers you’ll find across the state. sources say Wallace has been behind a few other linebacker targets on Georgia’s board, but he’s still a prospect to keep an eye on. He’ll be in Athens for an official visit the weekend of June 7th. If he has the green light to jump on board, things could get interesting come July.
Wallace is ranked as the No. 3 LB prospect and the No. 40 overall prospect in the country.
July 20th
4-star DL Christian Garrett
A lean but powerful interior defensive lineman from nearby Bogart, Georgia at Prince Avenue Christian, Garrett is a playmaking defender and one of the top defensive line prospects in the South. At 6-foot-4 285-pounds, Garrett is ranked as the No.122 overall prospect and the No. 17 prospect in Georgia. He’s coming off a strong junior season making 86 tackles, nine TFLs and five sacks while leading the Wolverines to a second-consecutive Single-A title. Right now, sources say the in-state Bulldogs could be tough to beat for the nearby defender.
4-star OL Cortez Smith
July 20th could be a massive day on the recruiting trail for Kirby Smart and the Dawgs. They’ve been high on the list for 4-star Cortez Smith from the beginning, and the versatile interior lineman out of Parkview (GA) will be back in Athens for his official visit the weekend of June 21st. Dawg Post has reported throughout his recruitment that Georgia was in the driver's seat to land his commitment and we feel the same way today.
4-star DL Bryce Davis
A big-time EDGE defender out of Grimsley High School in North Carolina, Davis was hurt last fall as a junior, but that didn't stop Georgia from recruiting him. Now, the 6-foot-3 245-pound defender is down to three schools that include Georgia, Duke, and Clemson. He’s ranked as the No. 8 EDGE defender and the No. 62 overall prospect in the 2025 class. Davis plans to take his official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 14th.
