ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs wrapped up their third spring scrimmage over the weekend, and some top Bulldog targets were in town to get an early look at the team.

One top target in town was 5-star OL Jackson Cantwell‍.

Ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2026 class, this Missouri native is a mountain of a prospect at 6-foot-8 305-pounds. He’s a BIG deal and someone the Georgia staff has been high on from the beginning.

Cantwell is no stranger to Athens and was back in town to catch up with offensive line coach Stacy Searles.

“I was most impressed about the guys’ intensity and how fast they played, as well as how selfless a lot of those guys”, Cantwell told Dawg Post. “They own up to responsibilities. I was able to speak with coach Searels a decent amount, and that’s always a good time. He’s a good coach and a better person.”

So what is Georgia’s pitch to Cantwell?

“Their general pitch is that they develop players at all positions (especially OL) and that I fit their blueprint perfectly of someone who could play tackle for them. They are saying that I’m their top priority for my class and that I would be able to succeed as a football player, and also as a multi-sport athlete and student too.”

This young man gets it. He knows several offensive tackles have been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft including Broderick Jones last year. This year, Bulldog tackle Amarius Mims will likely hear his name called in the 1st round. Then, if he keeps improving, left tackle Earnest Greene could be selected early in the 2025 NFL Draft.

If you play on Georgia’s offensive line, you can play in the NFL. That’s what Kirby Smart has built. Sam Pittman took the Bulldog offensive line to an elite level. Matt Luke kept it there, and Stacy Searels has done a tremendous job as well.

Sources say Cantwell is still very high on the in-state Missouri Tigers, and other teams like Oklahoma and Ohio State are also believed to be high on Cantwell’s list.

What’s clear is that Georgia is very much in this race, and they have now become a real threat to Missouri for the No. 1 OT prospect in the 2026 class.
