ATHENS - It may be early, but it’s time for Georgia Bulldog fans to get to know the name, Savion Hiter.
The top-ranked running back in the 2026 class, Hiter is a productive back who is coming off a strong sophomore season for Woodberry Forest (NC) where he totaled 1,187 yards (1,060 rushing, 91 receiving, 36 returning) with 11 touchdowns. On the ground, Hiter rushed 150 times and averaged 7.1 yards per attempt while rushing for 117 yards a game.
This physical, tackle-breaking back was in Athens on Tuesday and had a lot to say to Dawg Post about his interest in Georgia and what he saw from the team’s first spring practice.

“Practice was very fast-paced and it looked like every single player was getting reps and getting coached up. It was crazy how Coach Smart was in the middle of the field but still was able to notice everything during practice. Coach Crawford is all about developing his RB’s all the same regardless if you’re a starter or not. They’re back-to-back champs so obviously the program is successful! Everything is elite with UGA, they don’t call it RBU for nothing!”
That statement might trigger a lot of college football fans, but according to top running back prospects, nobody produces them better than the Georgia Bulldogs. The Dawgs have put several backs in the NFL over the last several years and should have one of college football’s best running back rooms during the 2024 season.
Hiter knows all about the Dawgs, and sources behind the scenes say Kirby Smart and his staff have positioned themselves high on Hiter’s list early in the process.
A natural runner with good size at 5-foot-11 200-pounds, it’s easy to see why Hiter is ranked where he is. He doesn’t bring elite speed, but he’s fast enough to fly by most defenders he plays against.
Hiter is also ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class.
