ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are in the mix for one of the nation’s top running back prospects, but they’ve got some ground to make up.
Elba (AL) running back Alvin Henderson, a Bulldog target in the 2025 class, proved over the weekend at the Atlanta Under Armour Camp that he’s one of the best running back prospects in America.
After a video-game type of season last fall where he rushed for an eye-opening 3,523 yards and 61 touchdowns, Henderson has climbed recruiting boards across the country and took a visit to Athens last month.
The Bulldogs gave him a lot to think about, but it appears they’re still behind both Florida State and Auburn right now for the No. 6 RB prospect.
Still, Henderson is high on Georgia and had a lot to say about the Dawgs this weekend.
“During my visit in January, I was able to sit down with coach McGee and coach Smart and talk about how they plan to use me”, Henderson said. “It was great. I learned that if I go to Georgia I’ll be surrounded by the best players at each position. In the running back room, I’d be competing with all dogs where you have to compete and get better each day.”

According to FanDuel, the Connecticut Huskies have +110 odds to reach the Final Four this season.
What does Henderson like most about coach McGee?
“Coach McGee and I talk every day”, Henderson said. “He texts my mom and me every morning. He probably talks with her more than he does with me so our relationship is pretty tight.”
The speedy 5-foot-10 200-pounder said he doesn't have any visits planned this second but did mention a few schools that he’d like to see when he finalizes his visit plans.
“This spring I’d like to go see practices at Ole Miss, Florida State, Auburn, Georgia, Texas A&M and Miami.”
Which schools are in line to get an official visit?
“Penn State, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Miami, Georgia, and maybe Texas A&M.”
What schools are recruiting him the best?
“I’d say either Florida State or Auburn have done the best job of recruiting my family. I’d say those are the top two schools recruiting me and building the best relationship with my family.”
What’s the message from Kirby Smart and Dell McGee?
“Dell McGee came by my school twice during January and coach Smart came by once. They were just letting me know that I’m their guy and they’re going to try and do everything they can to get me. Coach McGee is always showing me guys he coached in the past that are now in the NFL. I know if I went to Georgia I would be developed properly under coach McGee. They think I’m a complete back and a complete player on and off the field.”
Henderson also admitted that he plans to take his official visits in June before committing by the end of the summer.
The top-ranked running back in Alabama is ranked as the No. 97 overall prospect in the country and the No. 6 RB prospect in the 2025 class.
